I live in Virginia and have made many trips up and down 95 to Orlando. I feel that 95 is kind of a food wasteland with just boring national fast food chains along it. What fast food stops do you like to make along the road?

I’ll give you my favorites. I love Chicken Salad Chick at the Savannah exit. I also really like hitting PDQ at the exit north of the Jacksonville bypass. I’m lucky enough to have a Raising Cane’s in my hometown, but PDQ is close.

I've had several good experiences at Percy & Willie's in Florence, SC (sit-down restaurant, not fast food).

Our usual stops include Cracker Barrel as long as we can hit it before the typical meal rush hours and we don't mind the longer stop. Otherwise we prefer a quick stop at Wendy's or Popeyes.

After seeing Jaxbee's chicken signs frequently along that route, we finally tried one. Not bad, but nothing special.

There is a PDQ at the Old Saint Augustine exit on I-95, south of Jacksonville

Great to know about that extra PDQ! Zaxby’s was so disappointing. I gave it two chances, but it just didn’t hit right for me. If you’re okay with sit down, I was blown away by Carmine’s Pie House in Jacksonville. Best pizza I’ve ever had in Florida.

We stop at The Smokin Pig in Richmond Hill, Georgia on the way down (lunch) and back home (dinner) to NJ every trip. It is off exit 87, we've done this for the past 8 years or so once or twice a year. They are very accomodating with gluten free diets as well, which isn't too common in our experiences down south. It is connected to a gas station so while I order, my husband gasses up. We've taken the auto train to Disney a few times and the only downside is that we don't get to stop at The Smokin Pig!

My husband had suspected food poisoning from stopping at a Wendy's on the way home in Virginia one year, so we no longer stop at any random restaurants/drive throughs other than for coffee (we pack coolers filled with food, drinks and snacks). Cracker Barrel used to be great to get out and stretch our legs in the store and use the facilities, but there has been a serious decline in the upkeep of their bathrooms along 95 in recent years.
