Best fireworks?

There is nothing at all...that can compare to wishes. It is my favorite attraction/show/anything in all of WDW. We were just there for 8 nights and saw it 4 of them...it is pure disney wishes, hopes, and dreams.

Split decision in this family: one vote for Wishes, one vote for Illuminations, and I say Wishes UNLESS it is the Holiday Illuminations, then it's Illuminations!

Slightly off topic, but those that care will see it:

While we are a WDW family, I just had a chance to see the fireworks at Disneyland (Remember, Dreams come true... I think is the name) and it is GREAT. I am not a fireworks freak, but thought wishes was very well done, but IMHO the DL show stomps it. It incorporates characters, rides, WALT, part of the wishes soundtrack... and the Cannon Fight from the Matterhorn during POTC is very nice.

We even bought the DVD that was produced by a fan (and is very well done) for $15. The link is on the DL forum...

This past winter, they added a 4 minute "Let there be Peace on Earth" 'tag' on the end of the regular Illuminations show. During that 4 minute span, there were a large amount of additional pyrotechnic effects (I heard someone say 800 in the 4 minutes)

(because, honestly, nothing says let there be peace on earth like a bunch of carefully coreographed explosions ;))

(Or, as some people called it, the "we've got an extra box of fireworks to use up" ending.)

Evidently they're going to do that again this year. Just made our CPD res for 12/22 and the lady I spoke with consulted some type of schedule, and told me that they were going to be having the holiday addition to Illuminations this year; "Let Their Be Peace on Earth" (?), featuring Walter Cronkite as the speaking voice.

Our family enjoys this part of the day most, and we love all three. Although Wishes is the has a spectacular fireworks display and great soundtrack, Illuminations is our favorite experience. I think it has more to do with the atmosphere before, durring, and after the show. The World Showcase is such a calm and relaxing place at that time, and when you go to leave after Illuminations, it's a nice casual walk back to the exit. I also love that they play the old Tapastry of Nations soundtrack while your exiting the World Showcase, I miss that parade.
After Wishes and Fantasmic, everybody is leaving at the same time, on the same narrow 'street', and it just can seem a little hectic.
Don't get me wrong, I'm willing to deal with the hectic exiting to enjoy the all the incredible shows Disney gives us in the evenings. It's just that it's almost a romantic setting, looking over the water at the rest of the World Showcase, casually walking with your family and friends, talking with each other, remembering what a great day you had, and what wondering what tomorrow will bring.
At the other two parks you're too busy trying to navigate your way to the exit, being careful not to run into others, while watching out for the arrant strollers, or other obstructions in your path. It's not a nightmare, but it can cause some stress.

I'm going to join the minority on this one. I love Illuminations. I always cry at this. I love Wishes and I'm going to see Fantasmic in September for the first time so I can't yet comment on that but I'm such an Illuminations freak I listen to the soundtrack at least once a week if not much more.

Please tell me about how to exit Wishes with the least stress? We'll be going to YC. Would sitting on a bench and waiting for the crowds to diminish be what we need to do? Would we run into a problem with the buses stopping running?

It used to be Illuminations, but then came Wishes. I cried.

Funny, slightly off-topic, Fantasmic story: My DH and I honeymooned in Disney, and the Fantasmic show was relatively new and frequently had technical problems. The night we went, the show stopped right when the Sleeping Beauty dragon appeared. Mickey disappeared, then they announced the show was over. Several little kids in the audience started sobbing, "Mickey's DEAD!" DH and I were very happy we didn't have children at the time. Anyway, every time I see the show now, I think of that night.
