Best "fancy" restaurant

I'm in the process of making reservations for a trip in mid may. I've reserved some moderate places, but I would like to include at least one "fancy" more expensive place (think California Grill and Artist Pointe). Preferably one that is in one of the hotels and not a buffet. I just want to get an idea of what's out there. So in your opinion, which is the best and why?

Thanks!

I think the two you mentioned are good bets. California Grill and Artist's Point are fantastic.

How about the restaurants at Grande Flordian? They are all fantastic.. Also, think about the Boardwalk area.. There are tons of great restaurants there and if you want to go off the meal plan (or aren't on it) try somewhere over in the Swan area.. Il Mulino, Blue Zoo, or Shula's.. All very good..

Some of our favorites

Shula's (Not on DDP)
Yachtsman Steakhouse
California Grill
Citrico's
narcoosee's
Jiko

We are not big fans of Artist Point, we had a horrible experience there, not saying not to go just saying never again for us.

Jiko- for adventurous!
Flying Fish-night at boardwalk is nice too
Blue Zoo-fish lovers

Those are my picks!:thumbsup2

Victoria & Alberts stands alone.

Down a notch or two from it, I like the restaurants at the Swan/Dolphin. That would be blue zoo, Il Mulino and Shulas.

Down a notch from these, I'd recommend Bistro de Paris, Flying Fish, Citricos and Jiko, in that order.

The other Disney signatures, along with Wolfgang Pucks The Dining Room at DTD, rank lower.

Pretty much it as Pakey says--only I'd put Citrico's and Flying Fish ahead of Bistro.

I also agree with Pakey...although I rank Artist Point under Flying Fish and above Citricos. I've never had anything less than a spectacular meal there, but I seem to be in the minority:confused3

Of the ones that we have visited:

1: Jiko, they always go out of their way to make our meal perfect
2: Artist Point: fabulous!!
3: California Grill.. really this should be a tie with Artist Point just for the view alone!!
4: Narcoossee's: Hated it.. it was horrible. The food was subpar (medium steak that was almost burnt and tough as shoe leather), bad waiter (when he discovered that we don't drink, he basically ignored us for the remainder of the evening.. put our plates down and walked off, cleared out plates and walked off... never refilled anything, never asked if we needed anything)

It is a matter of taste and cuisine preference but if you want elegance, V&A is the ultimate choice. It is a 5 diamond restaurant again this year and there are only 43 of those in the entire US! We also enjoyed getting reservations at Bistro de Paris about 30 minutes before the EP fireworks. Ask for a table near the window and watch the show while you dine. I understand Blue Zoo is also geared to adult dining and it is a 4 diamond restaurant.

Flying Fish is great and you can walk on the Boardwalk afterwards. The food and atmosphere are top notch!

My favorite "Fancy" restaurant by far was Victoria & Alberts! It was hands down the best meal I have ever eaten.

My second favorite place was Citricos! I liked California Grill, but when I went their it was a little rushed, and the food was good, but not at the same level as Citricos.

I thought Artist Point was "ok", but nothing special. We also ate their two nights after Citricos, and the bar was set very high!

I agree with Pakey's recommendations. We have dined at CG several times, and although our meal was enjoyable we have found both the food and experience there to be overrated.

Flying Fish is definitely a favorite - the potato wrapped red snapper is delicious!
