Best Family Beach in Florida????

We are thinking about heading to the beach for a couple days in June. We will be at WDW so would like to visit one thats not too far away. I would love to know if anyone has any suggestions. I would also love to know about hotels, restaurants, things to do, etc.......

I guess one thats not too busy, nice hotels and restaurants, my kids would love to go shell hunting, other kid friendly stuff to do at night.

We would like to stay for 2 nights.

Pinellas County has great beaches and is appox 90 min away. Nokomis Beach is further south but is great for finding shark's teeth.

Good question. My sil wants to also do a beach vacation, alone or add a few nights to WDW. We have been on the East coast so I suggested perhaps the gulf coast.

We might consider (if we can get into) using a few points and stay a few nights in addition to a few nights at WDW.

We are considering Marco Island and Destin - (Eagles Nest Beach Resort and Club Intrawest Sandestin).

If anyone is familiar with the area or has been - comments welcomed.

I don't know how far it is from WDW but we have several friends who go to Siesta Key close to Sarasota. They love the beach (very pretty, beautiful sand!), it's family friendly, low key with some good restaurants close-by and GREAT shelling. I wish I could give you more details about where would be great to stay, etc., but have never been there myself.

Our friends stay at Tropical Shores, they are unique little efficiency suites that get nice reviews on Trip Advisor.

I hope you find a wonderful beach that fits for you!

I agree with Siesta Key, it is gorgeous! It is a little bit of a drive fromWDW though.

The Sandestin area is awesome. Have been serveral times.

My DD lived near Peridido Key south of Pensacola and east of Orange Beach, and that little key is really beautiful.

We added a few days to a trip and spent the time at a beachfront hotel in St Petersburg. The beach was very nice and Tampa was just a short drive away.

If you want a lot to do, St Augustine has nice beaches but the Atlantic is far rougher and not as fun to swim in IMO.
