Best Excursion on Eastern 7day?

We have done the 12 metre boat race in St. Maarten on both cruises. It's fun & you work as much as you want. Leaves time for shopping in afternoon, or as we have done just stayed on the ship in the afternoon.

we like the golden eagle in st martin's and the st john island tour, coral world was nice too. the shopping in st martin is realy good , lots of bargains to be had.

Trunk Bay Beach & Snorkel in St. Thomas! Most beautiful beach I've ever seen and great snorkeling too.

Okay..spill it! ;) What bargains should I be looking for on St. Martin?!!

If you enjoy beaches and snorkeling, you can't go wrong with Golden Eagle Catamaran on St Maarten and any beach in St John.

Don't be afraid to try St John's on your own. You'll have more time to discover and enjoy the island.

Also, lots of good shopping in St Maarten. We usually purchase a few extra pieces of jewelry (Austrailian Opals) and sell/trade them with a local jeweler.

Irish Cowboy:

There's no rush because of time for doing St. John on your own because you have to catch the ship? That's our main worry. We did both Coz and GC on or own on the Western, and were a little nervous about missing the ship in GC.

Did you rent a car-- can they even go on the ferry-- or take taxis? Can you give an estimate on cost? The USVI website's taxi fares are years out of date.

Thanks,
Julie

We rent a car(jeep)at Havensight and catch the 9:00am car ferry at Red Hook. We're usually on a beach by 9:45 and catch the 2:00 return car ferry at Cruz Bay. Gives us about 4 hours on the island, vs 1.5 or 2 hours for most DCL excursions.

We loved Captain Nauticas snorkling trip in St Thomas. We picked it because it went to two BEAUTIFUL beaches ( In St, John) instead of one. The boat was fast so we had over 2 hours to snorkle instead of 1 or 1 1/2 like most of the other excursions. We'll be doing it again next time.

we did the champagne catamaranin st tthomas and will do itt again in145 days. its a greatt scenic ride, great crew, great food, great margaritas and great snorkeling!:bounce:

Irish Cowboy,

Thanks for the info. Now if I can talk dh into renting a car there...

Julie

Rental car should cost about $60-70 ans about $32 for the ferry (roundtrip).

Don't forget to pack a soft-sided cooler so that you can take a picnic lunch to St John. We ordered some sandwiches from room service and grabbed some things from Topsiders in the morning before we left the Magic. Ziploc bags come in handy for packing your lunch.

Ganurse, do you have children, & if so, did you bring them with you on this? This is the excursion I want to take, but I want my children to enjoy it. And how much time did you get to snorkel?
