Best ever Swan/Dolphin Rate??

August 2003 we got a recipe rate of 139.00 with a 50.00 credit for food every 2 nights. We were very happy with that. But, I have never receive another discount with a recipe card again.

On average, which would seem to be the better discount....annual pass or govt?

Annual Pass as you get a one category upgrade and a late checkout. Example you book a lake view room but the rate you pay is 50% off of the rack rate for a standard view room. You also get a 2pm late checkout.

$99 rate thru Travelzoo last Dec. and rate was thru 12/24! Had to add the $10 resort fee....I wasn't complaining! This Christmas we have 147.50 lakeview thru Allears, and then on 12/25 the rate switches to 169...again..not complaining! I did see 140 on Expedia thru 12/27...but with 2 kids and a shaky job economy, I am too chicken to book and pay up front...my rates average the same anyway over the dates I need.

When did you book to get those rates. I tried back in July and could not find any discount for Swan/Dolphin, I tried allears,
entertainment club rate, 50% off with 1000 points rate- no discounts I also tried Expedia, travelocity, etc.
I check almost every other day on their site but can't find a
discount. Luckly I have points so I cashed in enough for two night
and finaly this week found a 35% discount for the last night
Dec.29th booking through the starwood special member section
on their site. I am still paying $237.00 for the one night but it
beats $300.
Last year we booked the swan at the entertainment club rate
same time and paid a lot less. When did you book?

Good questions, wintermom. I called them for a mid-January 2005 trip and was told there are no discounts being offered. When would they be loaded into the system?

Also, do you generally find the Entertainment 50% rate is available or not?

I don't think any 2005 discounts are loaded into their system
yet. Back in August they told me to try back in December. GEE
our trip is for Dec 29- Jan 4th. Thats cutting it too close.

I think discount at the Swan/dolphin are a lot more difficult to get
this year. When I read FinFan's post I called the Swan and they
said no discounts at all after Dec 24th (but hee hee, they don't realize they offer one on their site if you book through the 35%
off resort special for starwood members ) Unfortunatly it only goes
through 2004 so thats not going to help you.

Last year we got NYE week, and the year befor that, Spring Break
on the Entertainment rate, this year its not looking so good.

I booked mid-July...called the direct # to the Dolphin 1-800-227-1500 and applied the ALLEARS code. I had been told that there would be a rate change on the 25th, to 269 for our last 3 nights. I said o.k. as I needed the room and would keep trying to get a discount. When my confirmation letter arrived from the Dolphin it only showed our Allears rate and was only dated thru the 25th. I called back to make sure our full dates were on our ressie and was told that since there was a rate change that may have goofed up the conf. letter, and I was quoted the rate of 169 starting on the 25. As you can imagine, I was thrilled and confused at the same time. I asked how I rec'd the lower rate, was told it is an Expedia rate and that the Ressie clerk applied it. I called several times to verify, and to see if I needed anything as I have never booked thru Expedia,and was told no worries, 147.50 thru 12/24---- 169.00 12/25,26 and 27.
I did see on the Expedia site a rate of 140 available thru 12/26, changing to 269 on 12/27...but that is thru them, not the Dolphin so cancellation/payment etc is different...great rate tho. I am keeping my orig as they both average out to the same per night and have a lakeview w/Allears, not standard like expedia, and I can't risk the paying up front situation.
Good Luck....I also saw Ent rate of 149 back in July (when I booked) thru the 24...not sure if still available, and try AP...but call the hotel direct, I think you will have the best service that way.

Congradulations on your great rate!

The Dolphin is showing an internet only (fully
prepaid, no changes allowed) of $269.00 after Dec 25th, so maybe they just made a big bobo in your favor .

Last year when I wanted to add on two extra days to my reservation and the rate had gone up they let me keep the same lower rate for all 3 days.
Its so great when you get a little pixie dust!!
