Hi all! We'll be heading to Disney in June with three teenagers (18, 16 and 14). We've been multiple times before, but not for about 6 years. We'll be doing 5 days at Disney and then 2-3 and Universal. We've stayed at POR in the past and always really enjoyed it, but are considering trying one of the epcot resorts this time. The kids will be old enough to go off on their own a bit and one of these resorts seems like the logical choice based on location. I'm leaning toward Boardwalk. Any thoughts on if there would be a better choice...and if so, why? Also, if ayone can tell me the appx. walking time to get from Boardwalk to Epcot & DHS (can you walk to both?) that would be great! Thank you!!

Beach Club or Yacht Club if they will be swimming due to Stormalong Bay. Otherwise, BWI is fine.

We prefer the pool at Yacht and Beach club and think their quick-service food offerings are better. But, Boardwalk has recently updated their quick service so that may be better now. You can walk to both Epcot and the Studios, you can also take the boat. Epcot is about a 5-minute walk and the Studios are 10-15 minutes.

Yeah, the pool does look better at Beach Club/Yacht Club. If they were younger, that would probably be a big consideration. At this point, they will likely swim a bit but won't care too much about water slides, etc. Is transportation from BC/YC either walking to Epcot or Skyliner to DHS?

Same as BWI, walk or boat. You could walk to Skyliner for DHS. But that is backtracking.

If they aren't interested in swimming too much, then BW would be fine. Both resorts are accessible by walking or boat. There would be no sense in you taking the skyliner to get to HS as you would be walking all the way to Epcot just to get the skyliner.

There is construction going on at BW so check out the dates of that.

The location of both resorts is amazing. We love either place.

So we have 14 and 15 yo girls and they love all the epcot area resorts, they prefer the disney resorts over say the Swan/Dolphin. We sometimes end up at S/D just for cost. My kids are not super enthused about swimming either now that they're older, they can take or leave a basic slide but I really don't think you can go wrong with any of those 3 resorts, YC/BC/BW. I would be a little biased in that we prefer BW since it's one resort on it's own and not two resorts in one. I also just prefer the BW theme over YC/BC.

We also really like Boardwalk Bakery (now it's Boardwalk Deli I think) for the quick service and the pizza window. Also, my kids surprisingly love the surrey bikes, you don't have to stay at BW to rent them but they're fun for older kids, more fun than we thought they'd have. I know the are some construction updates going on, can't recall what but I think they are doing the sundry store on the main level and possibly rooms but not sure. I don't think dates were announced just yet. The rooms at the BW do need an update, as I think both BC and YC have more modern accommodations.

But from any of those 3 hotels, they can hop on the boat or walk to Epcot/DHS which is really nice to not have to mess with a bus. If you'll be at Epcot more, I'd pick BC or BW, as they are a bit closer than YC and depending on where in BC you are, you could be steps from Epcot. The sheer proximity is the really the best part of these resorts. I'd maybe check out a few recent youtube videos and see what appeals to your family and maybe go from there.

Don't count out the Marriott properties. Also walking distance to Epcot/HS. They count as deluxe for late hours. Swan Reserve has some suites. At least price them, they can be way, way cheaper than Disney sometimes.

I have raised my kids going to WDW and they like all of the resorts. It doesn't matter where you stay, they will enjoy the trip. I don't feel like there are any resorts that are "better" for any age group. Stay where YOU want to stay and the kids will have a great time. Boardwalk is a great resort. It takes under 5 minutes to walk to Epcot and about 10-15 to DHS.

We prefer YC with teens because they have the most updated rooms and the bathroom area has a privacy sliding door, which gives an area of privacy to change etc. BC and BW rooms only have a door to the shower and toilet area and it is very very tiny, too small to really get dressed in.

When we stayed at Beach Club my teenage kids got bored with the pool pretty quickly. In fact my wife and I spent quite a bit of time at pool while they ran off to Epcot and DHS on their own.

From any of those resorts (BC/YC/BWI/Swan/Dolphin) you can walk to both Epcot and DHS. Skyliner is an option I suppose but it’s not a direct link and there is also boat transportation between both parks and all resorts in between. But walking works.

Beach or Yacht Club. Better pool and location in our opinion.

My young adults favor BWI, as they did when they were teens. They really like being close to WS. YC close second as they like the food (at CL, but they also really like Ale & Compass and Yachtsman). They don't use the pools. They don't like S&D. btw their first choice of moderate would be POFQ. (They have stayed CS, CB, and POR, POP and they still prefer it.)

IMO for teenagers, all three resorts are about the same. I like all three, but there is nothing about any of them that would makes one more appealing than the other to a teenager

If you plan to swim, I would lean toward BC/YC with a slight nod to BC due to its close proximity to the EP and Skyliner entrance. I also like the fact that BC/YC have QS locations inside the resorts. I enjoy BWI but having to walk outside to access food options is not convenient, particularly if its raining.

Yacht Club woods/garden view. We've stayed at Beach, but I won't do it with the Standard again. The pool is great, although mainly mine like that area with it being close to Epcot and the Skyliner. One of my teens last year liked going over to the Boardwalk and in the Swan and Dolphin for food as well.

I put off buying DVC for years because we have Marriott points. Also booked New Year's once 12 months in advance to have a backup in case I was shut out of DVC. The only bummer is, of course, the smaller hotel rooms and lack of kitchen and laundry. But there is definitely better avaialbility!

I would also throw Riviera into the mix. The resort feels a little more "grown up" and posh. The rooms are a lot nicer and more tech friendly than BWV and BCV (lots of plugs and USB ports and Murphy beds are more comfortable). Plus, the skyliner is great fun.

I also vote for BC/YC. Stormalong Bay is not your average pool! My 13 yo loved hanging out in the lazy river with her friend. They also spent several evenings playing volleyball in the pool with a bunch of other teens until the pool closed! It was one of her favorite parts of the trip.
