I'm wanting to get one for my husband for his birthday next week, and I'd like some feedback from people. I've found these two on
Amazon that sound like they are pretty good.

I'm wanting to stay below $200, and I definitely want to go with an electric one. Any opinions would be appreciated. Thanks!
The Masterbuilt you are looking at is pretty good, but I would avoid the Meco. They are usually cheaper quality.
I am an avid BBQ enthusiast (my family makes fun of me because I have 8 grills/smokers which are all Weber except the one below), and bought 4 electric smokers before I finally got this one, and can say this is the best electric smoker on the market.
It is completely sealed, so I can actually use it in our basement since no smoke leaks out, which is great for wintertime BBQ (no freezing temps to accommodate for or deal with to check the smoker outside). It produces the absolute best and moist smoked meats that the whole family enjoys.
Whenever I want to cook some slow smoked BBQ, I start to fire up my Weber charcoal smoker, and then I always wind up going back to the Old Smokey instead. It has never let me down. It's great because I can start it in the morning in the basement and have the freedom to do other things while it is going, just like a crock pot.
I did drill a hole in the side and install this
thermometer so I would know what was going on, but other than that is is an out of the box solution.
The Old Smokey product
homepage is here if you want to read some of the testimonials.
Cunningham Living is where I ordered mine from so I can vouch for them as being reliable. Don't know how quick the $15 shipping will be so you may want to call them if you need it rushed for his birthday. Amazon has it also, but it is more expensive there right now.
Good luck with your purchase, and your husband is a lucky man!
