Best DVC resort for WDW Marathon

I booked our home resort SSR for my wife & sister as they are going to run the 1/2 marathon at Disney next January. When we hit the 7 month window, I was going to try to change the reservation to a more convienent resort for the race.

So - I guess my question is, what is the most convienent resort location for those participating in the marathon?

I believe there is transportation from all resorts to the Marathon start at Epcot, so no resort should be a problem. OKW is the closest resort to the starting area, but there is no practical way to get there on foot. Same for BWV and BCV (also very close)- none of the entry areas will be open in time for the start of the race.

You should be fine staying at SSR.

OKW is definitely most convenient for the start, but as Doc says, you're good to go at any resort because walking to the start is not really an option. Gotta keep that stamina up for the marathon itself!

I am debating this right now. I did the 1/2 marathon last January, and stayed at ASMu with an ap rate. (Used the rest of my DVC for a VWL stay with the family later in the week). I think I will stay at OKW. I thought about BVC, but unless I want to burn an extra day on my tickets, then there really isn't a convenient way to get from the finish line there. We'll be bused from where-ever.

I too am currently booked at SSR but plan on switching to OKW at the 7 month window. I'm doing the marathon and my mom and sister are doing the half. No place is truly convenient for the start of the half based on the course map and PO-FQ looks the best for the full but I like the studios better at OKW and maybe I will be able to walk to my start. BTW, I have nothing against SSR- we will be there 12/17-12/24 before heading off to HHI. It will be real hardship to return to the World again after having only been up north again for a week.
