Best DVC for couples w/ kiddies (under 7)

1) VWL - closest (so far) to the MK.

2)akv - they can see animals without even leaving their hotel room (or resort) & zero entry

3) SSR - zero entry to their pool

4) bcv - they have access to SALB - very nice pool. you can walk to Epcot and studio (or boat ride)

5) OKW - the slide is a sand castle with a micky face

6) bwv - the slide ends at the clown

sorry about forget the zero entry at AKV

Of course, we own at AKV's

IMHO AKV is actually a really good choice because the pool has zero-entry, does not get very deep, and has (by far) the gentlest slide of any DVC. Animals are super-cool and there are lots of FREE activities that are great for smaller kids (cookie decorating at BOMA in the afternoon, the Primal Parade, African folktales by the fire, medallion rubbing).

It all depends on what is important to you...

quick comments for the resorts I've stayed at..

OKW - the largest rooms of any DVC resort. Also has parking in front of your room. Also the oldest resort so there is more wear & tear.

SSR - newest resort. Parking in front of your room. A very very big resort.

BWV - hallways, hallways and more hallways BUT location, location location!

BCV - best part is the pool and its location.

I pick the VWL because it's close to MK. Also, the Bear Den (not sure of name) has daily activities for kiddies free, I think the hours are 2-4. It's the only DVC our DGC have stayed at so far, they've enjoyed the pools, the beach (sand toys and small playground) and other activities. There is free cookie decorating in Roaring forks in the afternoons and you get a certificate. They are trying BCV in November, but their 3 visits to VWL have been wonderful.

Hummmm..... All the places seam to have activities now which is really nice

VWL - Close to MK, Boat rides are fun, calming atmosphere (nice for calming down the kids after a day at the parks), trail to FW (Surry bikes), little sand beach.

BCV - Walking to Epcot and DHS! That pool is great*** (the sand bar area is great for little ones), Character breakfast at hotel,

*** Although I do warn the parents of ~3-9 yo's that this pool is a bear to watch your children in and having 2 parents in the pool is a good thing for those with more then one child.

BWV - Location! Community Hall (free air hockey, ping pong, fooseball), Boardwalk entertainers at night,

AKL - Kids love those Animals

We have stayed at BWV, SSR and OKW with our little ones thus far. (And AKL before the villas). My girls are 2.5 and 5. We have been DVC members for the last year.

DD loves SSR best because of the slide and zero entry pool. They also have a great comm. hall with lots of great activities.

BWV. The girls loved the activities of the BW at night. Loved riding the surrey bikes around the lake. Unfortunately they don't love EPCOT or DHS yet. We only spend about one morning per trip at EPCOT for TT with Crush and Soarin. We often skip DHS. So, getting to AK and MK is a little farther.

OKW has great rooms, a fun pool, a huge sand play area and overall great atmosphere. That said, dd thought it was just ok. We like it though, and will probably spend a week there most January's since I have a conference in Orlando every year and we bring my parents with for that trip. It's nice to have the extra space with that many people.

We are going to try to get into VWL next May for our next family trip. We will have three under 5 at that point, and will be spending most of our time at MK like we always do. It will be nice to have a quick bus trip or relaxing boat ride to MK or the Contemporary to be able to hop onto the monorail with the kids. I am a bit worried about not having a zero entry pool with 3 kids that may all need some help with swimming although my dd who is 5 does well with a life jacket on her own. Still the zero entry is so nice with little one.

AKV. We loved the lodge. It has a special place in our hearts as it set up our love for all things Disney. We actually didn't buy into DVC that year b/c we didn't like that it wasn't part of DVC yet and it is one of our favorite hotels. The animals are great. The pool is wonderful with the zero entry and nearby animal viewing areas. We love Boma for breakfast and dinner.
Lots of great kid activities and areas around the hotel to just walk and view the animals. It's such a unique and amazing experience without ever having to set foot in the parks. That said, we always hesitate to stay there since it is the farthest from MK where we spend most of our time. It's probably all in my head, but it seems like it takes forever to get to MK from there by bus.
