What is everyone's best tips for Disney on a Budget???? I am already a big clearance/coupon/sale shopper. I want my family to have a great experience when we go in June, and not skimp out on anything we want to do. At the same time this is a big splurge we've been planning for years and I'd love to be able to cut some corner and save some money without realize were doing so (if that makes sense, LoL).

Where are you staying? How are you getting there? Provide a few more details and you'll get lots of advice.

Get a big piggy bank to collect change. Join a rewards program for gift cards (My Points, Swagbucks, QuickRewards etc). Use Ebates for online purchases - we booked our trip on Travelocity through Ebates and got back almost $200 in cash back :goodvibes

We are not big breakfast people but I still packed some breakfast bars and Pop Tarts - it was a cheap and fast meal. I also took some cookies and other little snacks - we did not deprive ourselves of Disney snacks but if we did not feel like going to the food court we had some things in the room.

I use ebates and deposit my checks into my disney account. Also, every time I check out at the store, I always get $5 change back and then weekly I deposit that into my disney account. It's never enough to seem like a lot at once, but adds up fast. I also deposit all $5 bills I get back from other sources into that account. I also do small weekly auto transfers set up. They're all such small amounts that they don't interfere with my savings goals but it adds up to a pretty significant amount of money.

Heres what DBF and I are doing.
Were driving! It will be about $300 or so round trip for gas. His car gets pretty good mileage
Were also bringing all of our own food. We might grab a snack or go out to breakfast here and there. But we're premaking chicken and bringing stuff for salads, making chicken tortilla soup and bringing that, etc.
We're staying at POR for 2 nights (about $200 a night, no discount) then CSR for 4 nights (it was like, $170 or so per night with a discount)
And we're buying 4, MAYBE 5 day park tickets, no hoppers :)

Other then the obvious splurges of food, travel and lodging, you will also spend a lot on suiveneirs. You can buy shirts, hats stuffed animals, etc off Disney property for a lot cheaper. If you have any kids 4 or under, bring a stroller renting at parks is very expensive. If eating in restaurants, try to do one AYCE buffet a day, then you won't need to spend as much the rest of the day. Take bottled water with you to the parks, drinks are expensive and fountains are hard to come by.

We always do the dining plan with 1 counter svs, 1 table svs, & 1 snack cr for each person, each night. Then I bring a few snacks for the room & to have on hand at the parks. We love the themed dining & we also pick resturants at the beach club that have lobster or crab on the menu. We have great meals and I feel its very ecomomical. 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian has an awesome buffett and is good for both dinner & breakfast.

We stay at the value resorts, we don't spend much time in the rooms or pool so not worth it for us to spend the extra. I think the values are very cute, clean, & comfortable.

I have brought glowsticks from the dollar store, so we don't feel deprived when we don't purchase expensive light up objects sold during every evening event. Our rule is we can buy 1 souvie per trip, we save purchases for the end of the trip to be sure we get the 1 thing that we really wanted. Dont waste $ on hats or ears that are so cute & expensive at the parks, but when will you really wear it again:confused3.

I've made T-shirts to wear in the park. Purchased $5 shirts at JoAnn' or Michael's & used the wonderful designs provided by the very generous & talented people on the DIY board. I've gotten many compliments from characters, staff, & other vistors. This really does add to the trip!!! Put your name on them & everyone will speak to you, it's a lot of fun!

I've always had a great trip for what I felt was a great price and didn't get sucked into all the xtra's that really aren't needed to have a magical time.

Enjoy!

If you're not determined to stay onsite, I would suggest something like the Springhill Suites at Lake Buena Vista Marriott Village, only about a mile from Downtown Disney Marketplace. Has a pretty decent complimentary continental breakfast (and even had grab breakfast in a bag if you're in a hurry) and you can always grab an apple or banana to take with you for a snack later, plus the rooms all have a frig and microwave for keeping stuff cool or reheating leftovers etc. The first time we went, our nieces were very young and they loved the zero depth entry pool. Usually its $100 or less a night. Plus its walking distance to a Golden Corral and a Caribbean Breeze.

We are driving straight through from Texas. We will be brining our stroller and plenty of snacks/water/ breakfast bars /fruit with us. Well be staying for 7 nights at AOA, 4 day military park ticket with the Dinning Plan (it's cheaper bc all the character meals we are doing). I already belong to Swagbucks and we have been saving all of our change for about a year now for our kids spending money!

Best tips I know/can think of.

Book everything separately.
- First things first, get an Ebates account. This will help double-dip on any savings when you book online under the following bullets.
- Even when Disney puts their MYW packages together, you're not really getting a 'deal', you're getting convenience. If you want to spare a decent chunk of change, book your room through sites like Travelocity, Orbitz, or Hotels.com. Sign up for their email subscriptions, and always look for coupons to add on top of the discounted room rates they offer. You can easily save 25%+ if you play your cards right. Add in the average 5%-10% cash back under the Ebates link you'll use, and you can easily end up with a nice chunk of spare change.
- Get tickets through a secondary site, like Undercover Tourist, AAA, or Orbitz. If you book under Orbitz, you'll need to know exact dates. But, under the Ebates thing, again, you'll save a pretty penny, making the savings well worth the minor hassle.
- Plan carefully with your flight. Use sites like Kayak to check high and low price estimates around the time you intend on leaving. Look to see if adding a stop or two stops to your flight to decrease the cost. You'd be surprised. Example, when booking my fight for February 2014, it would have cost me $306 to fly direct to Orlando. When I added a layover stop, the price shot down to $274. Big difference.

You don't NEED to have nothing but ADRs.
-You will be incredibly surprised when you see some of the portions at QS spots in Disney, some almost rival regular portions! When you want to save a bit, go for it, don't lock yourself into having to sit down and eat every meal. Flying by the seat of your pants here and there can be fun, too!
-Eat at lunch, not dinner. The portions are almost the same, the price is almost a quarter of a difference or more. Dinner for my and my SO at Chefs de France runs an easy $110+. Lunch kept us under $60.

Souvenirs? You can make 'em!
- This is mainly for things like t-shirts. If you had the chance to, say, spend $35 on a t-shirt in WDW, or $10 for a t-shirt and materials to make your own design, what would you choose? This isn't to say you can't get souvenirs, just think on which ones you want. :)
- Don't buy it immediately. Most impulse buys will haunt you, and easily eat your budget. If you like it, take a picture of it, take a picture of the outside of the store, and keep moving on. Second to last day of your trip, go through your phone, and look at all the things you took photos of for potential souvenirs. Chances are, you'll pass on over half the items, and the ones that you do want, well you'll know exactly where to get them no problem.

Other Misc. Bits.
- Signing up for Target REDcard Debit card will save you 5% on all purchased, including Disney World gift cards. If you plan on paying for your dining experiences this way, you'll save a bit.
- Sign up for Shopkick, Viggle, and other survey based sites you think you can devote some oddball time. These are usually apps or things that you can use while watching TV or shopping out, and simply using the app to 'check in' earn you points towards redeeming for things like gift cards. Even if you can't use the gift cards you redeem the points for, you can sell them for cash on other sites like giftcardgranny, and put the cash towards your trip.

Best wishes, and hope you find some saving bits! :thumbsup2

I always find with the Dining plan that I do not need too much more food. If you are staying at LM and you drink soda you might want to bring a couple of 2 liters. The walk to the food court is long, and the cups that come with the dining plan are small.

Try to get out of the gift shops as quickly as possible so you are not tempted to splurge. Also get some poncho from the dollar store and keep them in your stroller in case of a down pour. Also bring glow sticks from home.

With the dining plan and tickets already purchased, Tips are the only must spend.

Not sure if this would interest your family, but my boys loved to collect and trade pins. Buy traders on eBay in advance for a fraction of the cost of starter sets, use a lanyard you have at home, then the kids can trade with CMs for new ones that they like. We were able to breeze through the gift shops with a "let's go check out if that lady out front has good pins" distraction.
