My girlfriend and I are going to be taking a holiday to WDW in just two weeks. We are debating on getting the disney meal plan. However, I wanted to insure that at least one evening we are in the parks that we can have dinner at one of the parks finer resturants. However, I know a lot of these places require reservations and may or may not have certain dress codes.

So, I was hoping some of you guys might be able to make some suggestions as to a nice setting for a romantic, QUIET, dinner for two. And, when or if reservations should be made.

Also, we are both very much into film, especially that of Hollywood from the 30's and 40's. I was thinking The Brown Durby? What do you guys think.

Wecome to the Dis! :cool1:

My favorite in park restaurant is Le Cellier, but I would never discribe it as quiet. If you want quiet and romantic, I would suggest a restaurant at a resort like Yachtsman Steakhouse, Jiko or Flying Fish.

I have never been to the Brown Derby, but it sounds like a good choice for you.

If a restaurant is in a park, there is no dress code .. park attire is fine.

I would absolutely make reservations as soon as possible. A lot of the most popular places turn away walk ups or you would you would have to wait quite awhile.

The absolute best in-park restaurant is Bistro de Paris upstairs in the French pavilion at Epcot. Here is a recent menu which, unfortuneately, does not show the desserts. Some friends who have been to France have said that it easily would qualify as a Michelin one or two star restaurant.

They do there best to discourage children, partially by not having a children's menu. It definitely is fine dineing. They also discourage the more grungy dress, but to have to consider that they are in a park. There are locals who have the "Epcot After 4:00" annual pass who will come, fairly well dressed up, to eat there.

Welcome to the DIS Boards!

I haven't been to the Brown Derby either, but it gets wonderful reviews here on the boards, and it does sound like a great choice given your interests.

There are also several wonderful restaurants in World Showcase at Epcot. As Cheshire Figment said, Bistro de Paris is probably the finest in-park restaurant at WDW.

Brown Derby is wonderful! food is fabulous and certaintly the ambience you want.

If you enjoy steak, I would recommend the Yachtsman... Great great steak
And I also enjoyed the restaurant in France. Service impeccable , food delicious.

If it is quiet you want, there are few to choose.
Many are in Grand Floridian. check it out!
but I think your first choice is a great one and yes! make ressies.

Have a great trip!

and welcome to DIS

ADRs can be made 180 days in advance so do it as close to that date as you can. We loved Marrakesh in Epcot. Good food, great atmosphere, beautiful decor and some entertainment.

Brown Derby is great! The atmosphere (ask for a booth) and food are excellent. This is a good choice for your needs.

Wow, didnt expect so many helpful responses so quickly. Thanks so much. I think I'm definatly going to make some reservations at the Brown Derby very soon. Thanks again for the help!

:goodvibes If I were you, considering that ppl make their ADR's 180 days before their trip, make your call to reserve your dining before you pay for the dining. If you cant get into a restaurant this late in the game, it may not be worth it for you. Unless you and your g/f are not at all particular (like my DH), and can just dine in any rest. that has a table available. (there are no bad places in wdwIMO, but I am very particular about what, where, and when I want to eat)

Just my 2 cents, enjoy your trip :wave2:

Definitely love Brown Derby! It is quiet and although, there are children there, of course -- mine included, it is not the chaos of other restaurants. The food is fabulous! We also love Le Cellier. Again, quiet and could be romantic -- if we didn't have 2 kids in tow. I don't think you could go wrong with either of these choices.

Brown Derby is definitely one of the best. Chefs de France, just below Bistro de Paris, is a little better than Brown Derby IMHO (though not as good as Bistro de Paris).

There is a very big difference between these Top Three and the rest -- Fourth Place is a very distance fourth. When excellence in food and service are the objective, I typically recommend folks take one of these three, or aim for a meal at the resort hotels.

Brown Derby is our must do. And we also enjoy The Plaza in MK nothing fancy but a good meal. Epcot Coral Reef, Chefs de France, LeCellier we have not treid yet but it is on our to do list. At the resorts try Artist Point. Also have you got the WDW for Couples? it is a great guide book.

This is definitely one of my favourite places to eat. The atmosphere is great and the service has been outstanding every time we've gone. Do have the Cobb salad - it is wonderful, so much better than Cobb salad I've had anywhere else. The desserts are also excellent. I am diabetic and they made me a wonderful sugar-free chocolate dessert - very, very yummy.

OP is debating getting the dining plan. Bistro doesn't participate. One credit TS restaurants that I'd suggest are Mama Melrose in the Studios, Chefs de France and Le Cellier. Brown Derby is fine if you're willing to use 2 TS credits.

Another vote for Bistro de Paris. I agree with what you said about Michelin stars. I've eaten at many 1 and 2 star restaurants, and I think it would be close to a 2 star.

It's not just one of the best in-park restaurants, it's one of the very best on-site.
