I was just trying to figure out which book I should get for my 8 year old DD. We picked up an old Birnbaum's book (2007 I think) just for kicks and she loved it, but she wanted an updated book. Can't say that I blame her. I know that the Birnbaum's for Kids 2011 book comes out later next month or so, but is there another book that she might enjoy? Does anyone have Tim Foster's "Guide to the Magic"? I already have the Unofficial Guide for myself so this really would be strictly for her enjoyment.

Have you seen the Imagineer's Guides to ____ Park? There are ones for Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom for sale at my local B&N - might be more at yours or online - and they are both very small, handy, but with all the cool sorts of pictures and sketches of the parks as they and their rides were developed. I think it's a great guide book because an 8 year old probably wants to learn more about the park, feel like she knows something that adults don't, and it has lots of pictures to do that with, compared to a guide book that simply lists travel/price/etc information you can find elsewhere (like on the DIS or in your old guide book). Definitely check it out!

I usually don't recommend my own book, but nevertheless, you could get her Kid Tips for WDW. All the advice is from kids.

read Kids' Tips for WDW. Amazon has only three reviews but they are all positive, I'll have to look at it.

I have read all of the Imagineers' Guides. They are educational explaining why certain things were done during the designing stages of rides and parks. DHS just came out in July. My order of preference is MK, DAK, DHS then Epcot. I can't explain why Epcot didn't appeal to me very much but I felt I got less out of that book than the others.

I love the Hidden Magic at WDW book! She might also enjoy searching for Hidden Mickeys. In that case, pick up a copy of the Hidden Mickey book!

The Imagineer's Guides are nice, too. I always loved the For Kids By Kids (Birnbaum's). I think there are other "WDW With Kids" guides. Not sure if they're kid-friendly, though (meaning, a kid can/would read them).

Go to Borders and search for Birhbaum's Disney with Kids 2009: The Official Guide. That is the only official guide of disney. I have it. and it the best. your kids will love it. it is completely in full color. Also the book have glossy paper and too much images. is the best. you may also consider the same BirhBaum's Disney 2009: The Official Guide. for you is the best guide. It have explanation of every attraction, parades, every restaurants, direction, how to get there, everything you can imagine is in that book. I bought mine in Borders Store in Plaza Las Americas Mall here in Puerto Rico. It was like $18.99 i think. but for all the information the book has this price is nothing.
