Best Deluxe - Two Teens, MNSSHP & F&W

I'm planning a trip for next October, Columbus week. We'd prefer a shorter trip with nicer accommodations, especially as I think my 13 yo son might pass my 16 yo daughter and I in height by that time. We plan to spend one evening at MNSSHP and at least one visit to EPCOT with F&W. I like that the Contemporary is on the monorail with easy access to MK and EPCOT, but have never visited the EPCOT/HS/Boardwalk area. Pools will not be our focus, but if the weather is nice, we might enjoy a relaxing day shopping or sunning before MNSSHP. What would your preference be? Contemporary or one of the EPCOT/Boardwalk hotels?

Edited to add: It will be my 20th anniversary and we definitely want to plan a signature dinner to celebrate. Was thinking Yachtsmen, Cali Grill, or Flying Fish, so that's also a factor.

I like the Contemporary out of all those choices with Beach Club being my personal 2nd choice. You really can't go wrong with either. My suggestion would be decide on what restaurant you want to have your anniversary meal at then choose the resort that is close in proximity.

Can I suggest the Poly as a wild card? The access to Epcot is easier than from Contemporary, and while not walkable to MK the boat is nice.

I love the Polynesian. It's the only Deluxe resort we've stayed at so far, and we've eaten there a lot, so I think I want to do something different.

I think I've narrowed it down to Boardwalk or Beach Club. Thoughts?

Beach Club. My teens/preteens love the pool there. Not just because it's an amazing pool but the recreation team does a great job with the kids, even teens. My son played volleyball in the pool for hours with other teens.

We just had a stay at BWV but it was just DD12 and myself. We really enjoyed the pool too and the slide is amazing, better than BC.

My teen LOVES the Boardwalk area. We've stayed in most of the deluxe resorts (Contemporary was our least favorite, by far), and the EPCOT resorts all are a big hit with my boys. They love being able to walk in and out of two parks (which happen to be their favorite parks) and they like the pools and the vibe of the Crescent Lake/Boardwalk resorts much more than the comparatively more isolated MK resorts.

My kids are similar ages (13 and 15). YC is our fave because most of the rooms have a full balcony and it is the first stop for the bus. BC is a close second

Since you've cut out contemporary already, and are choosing between Boardwalk and Bach club. I would do the beach club. I've stayed at the sister resort yacht club recently and they share facilities so the experiences are similar. In fact we did MNSSHP from Yacht club. Super easy to grab a bus and get to the park. We enjoyed the access to EPCOT for food an wine as well. It was a refreshing take, and we stay at Bay Lake Tower /Contemporary just about every year. Plus a warm day with the pool was great!

Of the MK resorts Contemporary is prob my least favourite. I’d pick Poly or GF. Additionally MK resorts have larger rooms than Epcot resorts. And they have daybeds.
Poly wins for easiest transportation, being on monorail to MK and a short walk to TTC for Epcot monorail. I think there is something extra magical about being able to see the Castle while walking around your resort.

YC is my fav Epcot Resort. But be sure to request a day bed room, so DS & DD don’t have to share a bed. Not all rooms have a daybed. And I know you said you won’t use pools, but if your kids saw the pool complex here they’d want to use it!

Yes. I don’t recall what the % is of day bed rooms. You could probably ask on the YC/BC thread. I’m sure Someone would know!

I'd definitely go with the Contemporary. I know you've cut it out, but I think you should put it back into the running. I love that hotel, it's one of my favorites on property. The monorail going through the hotel is really cool. It'll be great walking to and from Magic Kingdom for the Halloween party, I did that last year. It poured that day, we were in Magic Kingdom earlier and went back to the hotel to rest a bit and then walked back. At the end of the night it was really nice having a quick walk back to our room instead of having to get on a bus. The monorail over to Epcot from there is really easy too. I like the Epcot area, but I prefer the Magic Kingdom hotels.

The day bed is a request at BC/YC. We have stayed there many times and have always received one. If you do end up with a room without one, they will provide a complimentary rollaway bed.

YC/BC tie
Poly
Boardwalk
Grand
Contemporary

Ha! So many different choices!

We did the same thing last month (F&W, MNSSHP - and have done them several times before), and enjoyed the Wilderness Lodge a lot! Quick boat ride to MK and you can take the boat/monorail to EPCOT for enjoyment, but the bus would be quicker at park closing.

Put it this way - wherever you stay it will likely be a bus to one park and a boat or monorail to another.

Basically, my advice would be this: You'd probably be happy at ANY MK or Epcot resort (and that includes Swan and Dolphin). I would go to wherever you can get the best price at one of them. There are some that have a day bed in addition to other beds if you want to single those out for price.

My choice would be either Poly or YC. Poly’s easy access to the TTC to get the monorail to Epcot cannot be beat. And, after your evening in MK, you have the option of taking the monorail or boat back to the Poly. The YC is just awesome. Newly renovated rooms are super nice, and SAB is a great pool. You also have the benefit of walking to/from Epcot and eliminating Disney transportation. The whole Boardwalk area is really nice.

With teens, I would vote for the YC/BC. I LOVE the CR, but teens really enjoy the Epcot area. My kids grew up in the MK resorts but then loved the BC when we went there. They liked it there so much that they insisted upon staying Epcot on every trip for years and then both chose to stay here for their honeymoons. Now that they are older with children, the MK area has taken back their loyalty somewhat. However, not completely (for my son, at least) as they still stay for a part of every visit in the Epcot area resorts. DD is going next year with her highly anaphylactic son. Her first choice was BWI, but then we decided to go with BLT for convenience to the MK with a 5 year old and toddler.

There is something about the Epcot area that young people/teenagers seem to love. I think that it is the more adult vibe, evening activities and easy access to DHS.

However, the CR is amazing, too!
