My sons (20,15) are starting to plan next summer's 4 Parks/1 day trip. In the past, we have stayed at POR Riverside in the Alligator Bayou section w/a 5th sleeper. This gave us 3 separate sleeping surfaces as my boys won't share a bed, nor do they want to sleep with me!

The 15 year old has grown at least 6 inches since last summer's trip, and doesn't show signs of stopping, and there is no way the wall bed (for lack of a bed descriptor) will work next year, so we are looking to stay at a deluxe with a daybed.

The price jump from a moderate to a deluxe is a HUGE one. Therefore, we want the most bang for our buck.

Here is our usual schedule:

Day 1: Drive down, check in, go for a swim, go out for dinner, shower, turn in on the early side.

Day 2: up and out to open the EMH park, visit all 4 in one day (crazy, and we love it!!!), close our last park. Return to the resort. Collapse.

Day 3: Up and out for a good breakfast, open a waterpark, leave around 3:00ish, return to the resort, nap, shower, out for dinner, ask for late check-out (some years = yes, some years= no. We're good either way)

Day 4: Sleep in, out for breakfast. If we get late check out, a quick swim before showering and driving home.

We have liked POR Riverside because it's quiet, we like the pool area, the food court is decent, and with the option of walking to POR French Quarter or taking the boat to Disney Springs, we had many other breakfast/dinner options.

Which Deluxe would you recommend that would meet our needs: 3 separate sleeping surfaces, on the quieter side, good pool, plenty of food options nearby?

One of the Epcot area resorts sounds like it might fit your needs. I would lean towards Yacht or Beach Club. QS options are definitely lacking in that area but there’s some really good lounges, amazing TS around the Boardwalk, and Epcot is in your backyard. Ale & Compass has a great breakfast buffet though I never made it there last weekend. With your day 2 plans, the ability to walk to 2 parks is priceless. I can’t speak to buses because I only went to MK once and hopped there from Epcot on the monorail, and I always Lyft to AK. But SAB is also a killer pool complex. Having just returned from BC for a long 4-day weekend, I think it’s ideal for a 4 day trip.

Otherwise I would suggest the Poly because it ticks all your boxes, especially since those rooms are huge. The MK resort area has some stellar dining options at all price points, and Poly’s got by far the best transportation options of those resorts. But it’s more expensive than BC/YC and some people don’t like how bustling the lobby can get. I personally never had an issue with it, and our room was super quiet even though we stayed in the building right next to it.

I vote for the Poly as well. We stay with our family of 5 there all the time and have plenty of space (I have a growing 15 year old son as well lol). The one time we tried the BC, we moved to the poly. We were just too cramped there. You also have great transportation options at the MK resorts. Food, space, transportation, atmosphere.........The poly can't be beat.

I'm not sure how pleased the daybed sleeper will be there, but some people are less picky than others.

Last year we stayed at Contemporary and my son (23 at the time, 5'11 and slim) tried to sleep on one the first night and it didn't go well.

We just got back from the Grand Floridian last week and my daughter (28 y/o and very tiny) slept on the daybed for a few nights and didn't sleep well at all. When one of our guests left our 2nd room midway, she moved in there and got her own bed which she said was so much better.

I don't think it's the worst bed in the world but I think it's more suitable for a small child.

How much more would it be to get two rooms at POR (which you already know you love) than one room at a deluxe?

You can ask for adjoining (not guaranteed, but I've heard faxing a request helps) and I think you would be allowed to register your 20-year-old in his own room, and you and the 15-year-old in the other. (Nobody would know if you then swapped so the boys could be together.)

Or maybe 2 rooms at the new Gran Destino tower. I have a friend who stayed there last week and loved it. We ate at the Toledo's there last month and loved it. ALso have a new pub called 3 Bridges, that is in middle of water there and looks neat. ANd for sports watching, they have Cafe Rix in the Coronado building.

Animal Kingdom Lodge has bunk bed rooms. But I checked the week after July 4th 2020 and not available. Seems like a lot is unavailable for this summer. How about 2 rooms at Pop Century (if Gran Destino Tower is too pricey)?

Also could try to rent DVC from an owner (or via Davids). OKW, AKV and BLT all have sleeper sofa AND sleeper chair in the 1 bedrooms. Also will have full kitchen and W/D. AKV-Kidani and BLT have 2 bathrooms too.

The bunk beds are being removed from WL which is why they are not available.

I am in the same situation although my oldest at 5"3 can sleep in the pull down murphy in the studio villa as well as the daybeds but like others have said for the price I would like all the beds to be comfy!

Lately we have found good rates at in the Art of Animation suites, you get your own room with a queen and separate bathroom and the boys each get bed, one sofabed and one table bed, I would say double bed/small queen size. We love that there are 2 bathrooms and a separate space for everyone plus a mini kitchen.

Our next trip is a short one and for cost purposes we are going with CSR and they agreed to share a bed this time, moving forward if they both travel with me again I think we will look for 2 rooms at a value or moderate if we can't find a good rate on the suite.

Our son is 6'4" and he never complained about sleeping on the daybed at the BC or YC. :)
Any of the three Epcot resorts would give you three sleeping surfaces and the ease of walking to two parks. It also is convenient when trying to do four parks in a day because you can take the monorail from MK to Epcot, walk through it to the International Gateway and then head to DHS. :) The pool at BC/YC is fantastic and the boys would love it.

Poly, GF and Contemporary have three sleeping surfaces but tend to be more expensive. And trying to get anywhere besides MK from the monorail resorts can be time consuming.

My family has all slept on the day beds at one point or another during our stays. We thought the Poly, BWI and YC's were super comfy.

DD 5"6, me 5"7, DH 6"1 and DS 6"3 have all found the day bed comfortable.

I think part of why I find it so easy to sleep at Disney is because we are so bloody tired! I always sleep so well here.

My girls are 5'9" and they've slept on the TV fold down beds. They slept just fine. But not sure it's super comfy for much larger than that.

The only deluxes that guarantee three sleeping surfaces in a standard room are GF, Poly and CR. You can request them in the standard rooms at the EP resorts, but it's not guaranteed. With a party of 3, they may put you in a 2 queen room. Or you can book a deluxe room at BC, BWI or WL and guarantee 3 sleeping surfaces at those resorts, but that's not cheap. I would consider a garden wing room at CR. They are typically cheaper than any of the other monorail resort rooms, they are big and super quiet (in our experience). I would also consider a suite at AoA or calling Swan/Dolphin to see if a 2-bedroom suite is available at either of those resorts. We have booked two bedrooms at Swan/Dolphin for around the same price as a standard room at Poly.

Given that they’re an adult and a teen, I would get them a separate room at one of the Mods. That gets you 4 real beds and 2 bathrooms and given the prices of the deluxes that guarantee 3 sleeping surfaces, you would save money.

This is a good option, but you need to know your family.

Our last big family stay was split between one room at the Dolphin, and two rooms at CSR. And for us, we found we would rather have stayed in the one room at the Dolphin the whole trip. While the extra space at CSR was great, being able to walk to a park in 10-15 minutes from the Dolphin was a perk that we truly missed. As was having a food option that is open 24/7, and one that you didn't have to drive to if it was pouring rain.

This dilemma pushed us into an onsite time share. Got two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a full kitchen and washer dryer at a fraction of the Disney price. We really missed the Disney theme but sometimes sacrifices have to be made.
