If my husband and I wanted to try a new deluxe resort - what would members recommend based on the following:
  • We are both in our early 30's
  • We do not have any children
  • We Have Been 5 times since 2007 - we love Walt Disney World!
  • The first two trips (our honeymoon + trip 2) we stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge
  • The third trip we stayed at Beach Club Villas
  • The fourth trip we stayed at the Beach Club
  • The fifth trip was an all-day excursion during a Disney Cruise out of Galveston, TX

The pool at BC/YC is incredible and we really enjoy it so much so that we are hesitant to try any other deluxe resort. But on the other hand we don't want to miss out on another great resort or possibly a great location like being on the monorail.

We would like to hear from others - other than BC/YC what other deluxe resorts have really great pools? Do they come anywhere close to the awesome pool complex at BC/YC? We have some interest in staying on the monorail line at either Polynesian or Grand Floridian.

My favorite parks are MK and AK - my husband's is Epcot followed by a close tie between MK and DHS. We also liked being able to walk to Epcot and DHS from BC. How is transportation to the parks other than the MK from hotels on the monorail?

Thanks!

We loved BC! Then we tried BWI and we loved it even more! The boardwalk was AMAZING!!!! The pool slide is absolutely phenomenal! It's a charming resort and great for a young couple, with all the nightlife and what not! You can also walk to DHS and Epcot. It really is just as amazing as BC, if not, then better!
Hotels on the monorail have a long bus ride to DTD, AK, and a moderate one to HS and Epcot. We stayed at WL which isn't on the monorail but is an MK resort and WL was far from DTD, HS and AK. It is also on the same bus route as GRand Floridian for many parks, so GF has just as long of a ride as WL. I say stay at BWI!

I would say that the Yacht and Beach have the best pools and you probably won't find better. I like the swan/dolphin pools as well, they have , in my opinion, a bit more of an adult atmosphere, as far as the monorail resorts, right now there is a lot of construction at the Grand Floridian. The pools at the contemporary are loud with a lor of kids activities all day long, with the exception of the quiet pool at the contemporary.

We've stayed at all of the deluxe resorts except BWI, YC, and CR and our favorite is the Poly. We are probably in the minority, but we like the volcano pool at the Poly more than SAB at the BC/YC. We did like SAB, but it's not our favorite. We love the Poly pool as it backs up to the beach and you have a distant view of the castle while swimming. The Poly is convenient to both MK and Epcot as MK is just 2 monorail stops away and it's just a 5-7 minute walk to the TTC to catch the Epcot monorail. Good luck deciding, but with all of the great resort choices, I don't think you can go wrong with any of them.

We also loved BC. I dream of staying at Poly. On our last trip we stayed at WL and loved it. The grounds are fantastic as is the lobby. The pool area overlooking the lake is picturesque. The quiet pool by the villas is also lovely - very tranquil and surrounded by trees. It is also nice to be able to take the boat to MK and the boat to the Contemporary is nice for other dining options. YC is also nice, but since you've stayed at BC twice, I would try a different area.

I would recommend Poly. The pool is not as big as BC but the view of the castle while swimming especially at night is beautiful. It can also be a very romantic resort-walking around with the torches lit up at night makes you feel like you are on a tropical island.I have stayed there 2 times and loved it both times. I have also stayed at the Gf 2 times and I prefer the Poly.I also love Mk so the monorail there from Poly is great. We will be staying at BC for the first time in Aug(great discount) so I can't compare them yet. Also because it does feel more like a island getaway than being in the middle of a theme park my husband found Poly to be more relaxing for himself.I am the disney freak and he would always want to go back to the Bahamas or somewhere were he could just lay in the sand and he didn't truly love Disney till we started staying at Poly-and we have gone 11 times:goodvibes. Hopefully he enjoys BC!

Ever considered a split stay? We always stay at WL (our favorite) and others in the same trip. So far, we've been able to stay at all of the Moderates and 7 of the 8 Deluxes. We are also able to minimize transportation hassles by being close to the park(s) we are visiting during a particular leg of the stay (e.g. EPCOT resorts for Epcot and DHS. GF, WL or CR for Magic kingdom, etc).

It is going to be difficult to find a pool that compares to Stormalong Bay. It's generally considered the best on property. Last year my husband and I stayed at Boardwalk and LOVED our time there. Although I have an overwhelming fear of clowns so the idea of sliding down the intestinal track and being belched out of the mouth of a demonic clown didn't sit well with me...:scared1::scared1::scared1:;)

The Poly has a pretty nice pool and the resort is on the monorail so that is a plus as well.

I am biased though. After staying at Beach Club just once I was spoiled for life. The proximity to Epcot and DHS along with SAB makes BC/YC worth every penny. We have stayed at many places on property and we will be Beach Club devotees for life!! :beach:

I agree with the previous poster who mentioned a split stay! We've stayed at every deluxe resort except for GF (interested, just love so many others.) Can't beat SAB at BC, so you might decide to keep that in the mix. We just did a split stay between Poly and BWI and loved it. Neither pool compares with SAB, but we really love Poly on the monorail and BWI (especially if you have a Boardwalk view) is very high on our list of favorites.

If transportation is an issue for you (it is for us!) a split stay is particularly wonderful. While we're at a monorail resort, we spend lots of time at MK and do our AK day. Then when we switch over to an Epcot area resort, we just walk to Epcot and DHS. I do think Poly is the best of the monorail resorts for transportation because you can monorail direct to Epcot from the TTC and direct to MK from the GCH or TTC. If you're at GF or CR, you have to transfer monorails to get to Epcot. In the end, our split stays are always weighted toward the Epcot area resorts because we love Epcot so much and the dining options can't be beat! But it's nice to have a couple nights on the monorail for our MK time.

Good luck with your decision!! :)

Boardwalk is wonderful. My favorite Epcot resort! If money is no object you should stay in a garden suite!

Since the pool is a major factor for you, I recommend staying at the YC. It tends to be quieter than BC, and has a more refined/adult atmosphere.
And you also get a full balcony at YC whereas the BC does not have full balconies with all rooms.
