We like to kick back and relax one evening each trip, returning to the hotel to swim and then order in some delivery pizza. I'm looking for recommendations for some great local delivery pizza. We don't want chain pizza (Domino's, Pizza Hut, etc.) but some really good local place that delivers. Who do you recommend?

I would also like to know who would deliver pizza to GCH. We would like to do the same our arrival night :) It could be a chain or non-chain.

Others on here have recommended Pizza Press and Marris Pizza. We will likely be trying one of them during our upcoming trip.

Maybe carry out pizza from that place in DTD? Napoli, I believe. Their white pizza was amazing. I never leave the parks for meals but I'll definitely do it this trip because it was so good. The walk wouldn't be too bad. Maybe one of you can run and grab it?

I have heard Marris is really good and I am pretty sure I read they deliver, its on our to try list for our next visit

AZPharmacist... you read my mind- we LOVE the pizza at Naples and usually eat lunch/ dinner there once or twice on our trips. Was also thinking to have my DH run and get a pizza from there for take out :)

Based on recommendations from these boards, we got Marri's pizza one night and didn't think it was very good. "Good pizza" is a relative term. We're from Chicago, so good pizza in Chicago is different from "good pizza" in California. The Marri's pizza had lots of dough and very little sauce, which, unfortunately, was not my version of "good pizza." They did deliver, although it took about 90 minutes.

Depending on what hotel you're staying at, consider visiting Pizza Press. It's a very thin crust pizza, so know that in advance, and it's very good. Also a bit on the spendy side, but in our opinion it's worth it.

Not quite fair.

You can get pizza in California that would be considered great the world over...it's just that great pizza is not as common in California as it is in Chicago and NYC. I lived in L.A. for years and years, but found only a handful of carry-out/delivery pizzas anyone considered good...of course I can say that about most places I've lived (except NYC).

Californians are pretty aware that their pizza choices lack, despite Wolfgang putting "California Pizza" on the map. You'll find those who swear by this pizzeria or that, but in general Californians are not defensive of their pizza...not like they are about their more traditional Chinese food (don't ask about egg rolls) and CalMex (I don't eat Mexican now that I left Ca., nothing else is as good).

Marris' pizza worked for us. We'll call them again on future trips. I'll be trying something other than pizza too, the menu looks good to me

Good Pizza????
Opinion Varies from one person to the next.

Here at home.... the best pizza we can get comes from Domino's.... Go figure.....
Then again it's only $7.99 for a large, 3-topping pizza, take out.

The ONLY non chain good deep dish pizza is Tony's Little Italy in Placentia - www.tonyslittleitaly.com around 15 minute drive from DLR. No delivery to DLR but great pizza! We live 25 minutes from Tony's but LOVE it so much the drive is worth it! We even order /pick up to take with us whenever we have an onsite stay (DVC members) @ DLR!!

While deep dish is synonymous with Chicago, it's also a bit of a cliché/stereotype. They may love their deep dish, but when they get carry-out pizza in Chicago it is still a more traditional (I won't say NY-style) "flat" pizza. BTW, Masa in L.A. on Sunset also has some of the best deep dish pizza you can get ... period.

The problem is DLR isn't in the kind of residential neighborhood where great pizza is rewarded with long-time loyal customers. With high guest turnover, most places only exist to be in the phone book when someone wants pizza at their hotel.

To each their own.... enjoy "your" pizza! :flower3:

I never criticized any pizza, I just noted that just because someone is from Chicago, it doesn't mean they are looking for deep dish. When Chicago go get carryout...it's usually just "pizza."

If you're staying onsite...we call over to Naples at Downtown Disney while we're at the GCH pool, and my husband walks over and gets it and brings it back to the pool. It's not the best pizza ever but good enough and fun to eat either at the pool or in the rooms.

My cousin's husband drove over (I assume he drove and not walked) to California Pizza Kitchen at Garden Walk once and brought it back. We don't usually eat at chain restaurants but we girls were in the mood for big salads and the kids wanted pizza.
