I think I want an Ipad and Ive narrowed it down to the Ipad 3 either 32gb or 64gb. I cant seem to find them cheaper anywhere including online. Is that just the way it is?

Anyone have advice and where to buy one for support or any other advice.
There is a apple store 1.5 hours from me if that is the best option.

thanks

You could possibly find a deal at microcenter. But its rare to get any thing off the current prices of ipads.

Apple store would probably be the best for fast support, but the return and service policy of a local store like walmart or best buy may be more convenient.

Apple sets the price of their products. Like the poster above said, it's rare to find a deal.

If you are going to get a 4g one, you can go to a Verizon store. The Verizon ones are nice cause you can hot spot off of them for free. We had 3 things running off DD's when roadrunner went down last night!

If you are looking at getting the Wi-Fi only version and really want to save money, consider getting the iPad 2 instead of the new iPad.

Honestly, I have the iPad 2 and I've done a side by side comparison with my brother's "new" iPad. I will not upgrade and I know other people who have said the same thing. For the average user the differences weren't worth the upgrade.

Not putting down the new iPad, just it's not as big a change as the iPad 2 was to the original iPad.

You can use a Target debit or credit card and save 5%.

Occasionally stores like Target or Meijer also will have coupons saving you $10 / $50 or something like that.

Otherwise...pretty much the price will be the same at all places.

All I can say is: get AppleCare Plus, not regular AppleCare! When I dropped my iPad and the glass cracked, I got a replacement for $50!

DD has decided she wants an iPad and we found out that Game Stop sells iPads online. She is gathering up all the old games, gameboys, Nintendo DS etc to turn in at Game Stop and is getting gift cards to put in her iPad fund.

My husband just bought one on QVC, it had "value pays" so it was great that it didn't have to be paid for all at once, and he had 30 days to try it to see if he liked it - or return it. Then he really did the math and found out he was paying $400 more for it on QVC than through the Apple store. So it went back to QVC. He decided not to get one right now. I found a brand new, factory sealed one, on Amazon, no taxes, free shipping and it ended up being about $50 cheaper than at the Apple store when you figured you didn't have to pay taxes. You are still able to buy the extra care package from Apple for it (also check out Square Trade - they are cheaper). I ordered the I Pad late on Wednesday - it was deliverd on Saturday!

I think what happened that made it $400 more on QVC is that they are giving you a bunch of accersories for it that cost $xx.xx amount, usually less than what they normally cost separately at retail price, and also including the iPad. You pay the same for the iPad, you're really just getting the extras at a better deal.

You can also buy a refurb Ipad from Apple. Just Google 'refurb ipad' and click on the link to the Apple store. You can save up to 30%, and they are under a full warrenty. This is the text on the website:

We test and certify all Apple refurbished products and include a 1-year warranty.
All refurbished iPad models also include a brand new battery and outer shell.

I have purchased an IPAD 1 for me a Ipad 2 for my daughter and 2 ipods over the last two years- all Apple refurbished. Other then coming in a plain white box you could not tell them from new and they came with an Apple 1 year warranty, new batterys and new outside covers so no scratches. Saved $150 on the Ipad 1 over list and $100 on the Ipad 2 - similar discounts on the Ipods. We would not hesitate to ever buy refurbished from Apple direct. They post stock every few weeks, usually on Sunday but they sell out in a day or 2, you could check from time to time or sign up to one of various websites like techbargainsdotcom, who posthourly on electronic bragains. :thumbsup2

I agree with the folks suggesting a refurb iPad 2. I have a 2 and I'm not planning to upgrade - a nicer screen/camera and an incremental processor upgrade aren't worth it, IMO.

Apple stuff is pretty price-controlled, so you won't find too many sales and discounts on new products.
