Where can I find the best deal on Alamo? We're going in October- should I wait to book until a certain time ahead??

Car rental prices adjust continually. You should watch the prices for a few weeks now so that you get an idea of what the going rate is, then go ahead and book when you see a low one. But most importantly, don't stop then. Keep watching and if you see a better rate you can re-book.

Most agencies let you book and rebook with no deposit and no penalties. You could book with the best rate you can find today, and hope it goes down. I booked months ago for Sept & it hasn't moved, but August jumped considerably.

I've personsally found the best deals with Alamo using the code and coupon from either the costco or entertainment sites (if you belong to either, although I've never been asked for proof for either one of those.)

You might also check out the mousesaver's website. They have lots of codes you can use that may get you a good deal. Just book the cheapest you can find now, then keep checking every few days if something better comes along. There usually isn't a penalty for canceling if you find a better deal!

It is always, always, always recommended to book now, NEVER wait. You don't have to pay upfront like airfare. So if you see something better, just cancel and rebook. Entertainment has by far the best long term coupon this year with their double upgrade. If you buy a cheap 2010 book (they were $12 with free shipping last I saw), the coupon is still good through June 2011.

With the double upgrade, book a compact to upgrade to a standard. Since MCO doesn't have a standard isle, you pick from the full size isle. The compact is cheaper than the mid size and the mid size upgrades to full size. So booking with the compact is the best deal.

BJ's Wholesale Club has discounts for Alamo, and their rate codes include a second driver which is worth a lot if you need it. I believe you can print the coupons from their website without logging in.

And using www.ebates.com, you get 30% of that back in cash.
