Best days to tour IoA an US

Our trip is the last two weeks in May. Normally we "wing", due to family hating plans, however this year, with all the buzz about the crowd levels, I have been able to convince everyone that a plan is needed.

I am using TouringPlans for WDW. The book does have a plan for US and IOA, which we probably will use (anyone any experience of this?), but has no mention of the best days to visit Universal.

Does anyone have any knowledge of an "official" best day plan like TouringPlans crowd level calendar or have any tips for the best day to visit these parks?

Many thanks

We were there in August 2007 for two weeks (peak season) and found that the crowds were lighter during the week and especially on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

I'd like to know if people have had good luck with the touring plans as well :)

We never do touring plans cause we find we always just relax and do what we want at Universal cause its a much more relaxing and not as hetic as Disney

even thought i stay on site
and even though i have gone annually, sometimes more per year,
i do plan out my days.

monday thru thursday will be the lightest days in the parks.
if a monday is on a holiday weekend, scratch that day and to tues, wed, thur

if you want an early start, be at the turnstile for IOA around 8:20.
if there are long lines to get in, the TM's on occasion have opened the gates around 8:30ish.

you will find the rides in the front section open.
you can hit all of these rides and move on when the park officially opens.

if you eat at off times such as 11ish for lunch and 4:45 ish for dinner or later, you will miss crowds at the food places.

while others are eating at regular times of noon and 5:30/6:00, less people in lines for the rides.

Thanks everyone, good advice. Notes made of it all. Anyone had good experience from using the plans with the parks though?

i have read the touring plans in the book of wdw that includes a section of universal.

i did not find it that helpful.

i did find information of first hand experiences very beneficial.

go to the trip report forums for universal
you will get more insight by reading how it was for those in their reports.
