Hello. I was wondering when the best time to fly is. We are finally going back to Disney (YAY) and we have decided we are going to fly. Trying to decide if it is cheaper to do it one way over another. I was looking Sunday to Friday or is it better to do Monday to Saturday. Or is there not much of a price difference. After writing this not sure if this post goes in transportation or budget? Thanks in advance!!

Also, when do you think the flights going on sale will be?

Weekend travel to vacation destinations tends to be more expensive than weekdays. Tues.-Wed. and very early/very late flights will be the cheapest.

I agree. Southwest has always been cheaper during the week than on weekends for me. If you can manage it, go midweek to midweek.

Thanks! So really it shouldn't matter much that one day?
Given your choice of days, no, it won't make much of a difference. The time of day that you choose for departure might. A late Sunday evening departure with an early AM return flight on Friday would be cheaper than departing mid-morning on Sunday and returning late-evening on Friday.

A lot of travel websites will now show you rates for days close to your day you request, to show you how much more/less you would spend if you traveled on a different day. Depending on your route, the "traditional" cheaper days may not apply, so it's best to find out firsthand.

In a similar vein, I found that the direction you're flying can make a big difference, too. I inadvertently swapped the from/to destinations for my last airfare search and found it was much cheaper going the opposite way I wanted to.

If you're going around a school vacation or something, too, prices can often be more.

For our spring break I had to do Tuesday to Tuesday, meaning that my son will miss 2 days of school after spring break.

I think Sat - Sat is the best. I never like getting back late on Sunday and having to go back to work the next day. It is really brutal coming back from Hawaii in the Summer and have to deal with the 3 hour time change.

We were pricing a trip recently and originally wanted Sun-Fri. It was much higher than Mon-Sat to the tune of about $85 per person higher. With a family of 6, that adds up fast.

We fly Southwest a lot and I find Tues, Wed and Sat are the least expensive days to fly.

Oh bummer. that is what I was thinking of dong was Sunday to Friday. I guess I will have to really start watching and playing with the dates. thanks for the information.

We fly SW and Saturdays work best (cheaper) for us - so I think it depends on where you are coming from and when you buy.
