I always heard Tuesday was the best day- anyone who has been watching prices have any ideas?? I'm trying to get my daughter a flight to Florida for T'giving with a friend- they went up $120 yesterday then it dropped $10 today- it is a good time so that's why it's more expensive. Hoping it'll drop some or I'll send her at the later time

Tough question. Thanksgiving week is an extremely busy travel time, so there are not many bargains. You may not even find an empty seat (and there's more chance of being involuntarily bumped  ). You might want to try another airport (one w/ SWA or Jet Blue, perhaps); competition gives you the best opportunity to get a good deal. Early December might be a better idea if plans are flexible. Research every site you can think of and join the airline email lists. Good luck!

Thanksgiving weekend is very busy - but you can still get good deals flying Thanksgiving Day. I signed up for Southwest DINGs - and two days in a row there were Dings between Indianapolis and Orlando, and Indy and Tampa. I could've flown down Thanksgiving Day and returned early Dec.! If not for the fact that I'm already ticketed on stupid Delta, I would've bought a ticket!

Believe it or not, I have had great luck with prices going down midweek (Tues, Wed, Thurs.) AFTER midnight...I booked some flights in March for next month one late evening (or early morning, I should say!) and the exact same flights showed up to be almost twice as much the next morning! :confused3

Someone once told me that after midnight is supposedly better for price shopping, as that is when the airlines cancel out on "hold reservations" and put those fares back into the system...Not sure how true, but I found it worked in our case for whatever reason! Good luck!

I heard the same thing about Tues-Thurs after midnight. I've never actually looked at it, but I have heard that advice before.

My NWA flight went down $38 as of Tuesday morning. I booked right away! :cool1:
