I'm heading to DL for 2 days in May for the first time - although I am somewhat of a WDW expert (especially the food) I have no idea what to expect for DL or DCA! HELP!

Tell me your top 2 choices at each of the parks, and what's your favorite CS meal to get there?

I know this is more than 2 choices, but may as well present the different options!!!

In Disneyland, I like:

- Bengal BBQ (good chicken, veggie, beef skewers)
- River Belle Terrace (they serve B, L and D, but at breakfast you can get the famous Mickey-shaped pancakes, and it is in a good location)
- Plaza Inn (buffeteria-style, with famous fried chicken and good desserts and thing)
- Blue Ribbon Bakery (for baked goods and blended coffee drinks)

(I hear that Stage Door Cafe has good food and that Redd Rocket's Pizza Port has good salads and pasta, but I have not tried those yet; I did try RRPP's pizza and a slice was very expensive!)

In DCA, I like:

- Taste Pilots Grill (excellent BBQ chicken sandwich and great criss-cut fries)

People rave about Whitewater Snacks in the GCH - I have yet to try it but it looks like it has some really great choices and even some healthy items and generous portions. I also have yet to try the Pacific Wharf Cafe but people like the bowls - like the breakfast bowl, for example - and the soups, chili, etc.

My picks -

Disneyland:

Redd Rocket's Pizza Port - Chicken Fusilli
Rancho Del Zocalo - Hacienda Salad
Carnation Cafe (I know it's not counter service but LOVE the Loaded Baked Potato soup!)

CA Adventure:

Farmers Market - Chicken Caesar salad

Hi daisygirl902! Here are my 2 CS picks for each park:
Disneyland
1.) Bengal Tiger
2.) Red Rocket

Disney's California Adventure
1.) Paradise Pier Shrimp Louie
2.) Food Cart (May Only for Cinco de Mayo.) Chicken Tamales
:tink:

Most of the CS places at DL are pretty good. We would rarely eat CS but I did enjoy eating at the French Market.

If I can get the fish-n-chips that they sell at Epcot in DLR, I'm sold.

No British World Showcase Fish n chips at DLR (that i've seen). I love them too.

My favorite CS meals in DL include Hungry Bear next to Pooh Bear & The Sausage/German Chocolate Cake Joint next to the Princess Fantasy Fair (almost always empty there).

In DCA, I like the CornyDog Palace & the Paradise Pier (wharf) window that serves soup & salads in the SourDough Bowls.

hound <---is one of the few who is underwhelmed by Whitewater Snacks.....it's ok, but i like the burger joint next to Soarin' just as well.

I wasn't that impressed either. It reminded me of cafeteria food. :confused3
It wasn't horrible, but I wouldn't make a huge effort to go back.

In DL we like Rancho Del Zocalo (YUM) and Pizza Port
In DCA we like Taste Pilots Grill (YUM) and Corn Dog Castle
We did breakfast at WWS when we stayed at the GCH, it's was very good and the portions were huge. We have not eaten there for lunch or dinner.

In DL we like Rancho Del Zocalo
In DCA we like to exit through GC and eat at GC CS... lines are much shorter and is good. back in the CA in 5 mins.

I forgot about Rancho del Zocolo. I'd bump the Hungry Bear in favor of Zocolo.

Split the entrees & save enough room for some Tres Leches cake. :thumbsup2

I like Rancho too.

But for my favorite I would say the soup in Bread bowls at either park. DL has gumbo's in theirs in New Orleans Square. And DCA has soup and Chili in there's at the Pacific Wharf. The best part is they make the bread in the park. At DCA you can actually watch then make it right before you eat it!

In DL:

Redd Rockett's Pizza Port - Love the Chicken Fusilli and Foccacia - and one serving of the pasta is big enough for 2 people to share.
Bengal BBQ - The skewers are wonderful.
Coke Corner - Mickey pretzels with HOT cheese sauce (better than the cold from the carts) and cream cheese pretzels and my favorite hot chocolate in the world (I can't figure out what it is, but hot chocolate just tastes better in Disneyland.)

In DCA:

Pacific Wharf - the broccoli soup in a bread bowl. So yummy!

Is it a cheesy broccoli soup or a cream based soup? I love cheesy broccoli soup....

Don't forget about the choices in Downtown Disney. It's not like Disneyworld - an extra 10 miinutes and you have a much bigger selection of food. Rainforest cafe is good - or you can get a slice of pizza for around $4 next to Napoli that's good. La BreaBakery has some good choices too.

That said, Rancho is good - so is the Plaza Inn - the fried chicken dinner is big enough for an adult and a child. I also like the lunch menu at the French Market when they have it - last weekend they didn't -- good french dips - and if you time it right, a good dixieland band. And don't overlook the pineapple freezes at the Tiki Room. One of the less expensive choices and yummy ( wait in the line inside the turnstile to the attraction -the outside line is long....)

Pilot's in DCA is the best burger in either park - they have a toppings bar, and you can get blue cheese or chili.

Of course, there's always Club 33 for the lucky ones. Napa Rose is awfully nice as well if you're feeling wealthy.
