DH, DW(me!!!), DD17 and DD12 will be going to WDW in April 2004. I have my Passporter out and ready to mark all the good eateries. So, please tell me where the best food is as far as counter service is concerned. Already set with the sit down restaurants. Thanks everyone!!!!:jumping3: :jumping3: :jumping3: :jumping3: :jumping3:

Flame Tree BBQ at AK,Catalina Eddie's at MGM,Yorkshire Fish and Chip shop at Epcot,Columbia Harbour House at MK.We have BBQ chicken salad at Flame Tree, pizza at Eddie's,fish and chips at Yorkshire and clam chowder at Harbour House. These are a few of our favorites I'm sure more will post with some great ideas on good counter service.Have a magical trip::yes:: :wave2: :goodvibes

AK: Tusker House for rotis. chicken & carrot cake for dessert.

Epcot Future World: Food Court in the Land for baked potato/side salad/cookie combo.

Epcot World Showcase: Sommerfest in Germany for ham & cheese sandwich on pretzel bread.

MK: El Pirata (if it's open) for tacos & nachos. Otherwise it's Cosmic Ray's for deli-stacked sandwich.

Studios: Pizza Planet for cheese pizza/salad combo is ok. This is by default as it is very hard to find decent counter service places at the Studios.

We really like the counter service places at WDW- the MK especially has a lot of good choices!

My favorites are-

MK- Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe'.

EPCOT- Electric Umbrella in Future World. (I've never had Counter Service in the World Showcase so I have no advice there.)

AK- Flame Tree BBQ.

MGM- I would agree with the above poster that their counter service fare is pretty blah, I can't even remember the place I ate when I was there, some burger place, Rosie's maybe? It wasn't very memorable.

AK
Tusker House
Lots of super choices. Good chicken salad with foccacia.

Epcot
No clear favorites
The Land Eatery is so-so but lots of choices.

World Showcase
Yakatori House is a great light stop with Kaki Gori for dessert on your way out!

MK
No clear favorites
Would love to try Columbia House!

MGM
Pizza Planet veggie pizza/salad combo all the way.

Enjoy!

We like the rotissarie chicken at cosmic rays, didn't feel like counter service.

Fish and chips and clam chowder was good at Columbia Harbor House.

Cheeseburger was AWESOME at Pecos Bill, if you like mushrooms from the fixin's bar.

I wasn't thrilled with Flame tree BBQ, ABC commisary or Yakitori house this time around.

Best Counter Service at Disney/MGM Studios overall (freshness, value, portion size, short lines) is Starring Rolls Bakery (lunch only). They have 2 sandwiches to choose from (panini sandwich w/ turkey, cheese, veggies, and a pesto spread/waldorf chicken salad on a croissant) with chips and a regular drink for $6.99!
If you don't like chips, they will substitute a piece of fresh fruit.

Of all the parks, Disney's Animal Kingdom has the best counter service locations. Of those, My favorite is Tusker House, with Flame Tree coming in at a close second.

At MK, I'm split between different dishes at each location.
Plaza Pavillion's Chicken Garden Salad, with steamed green beans and roasted red potatoes is a real treat.
The Figaro Fries at Pinnochio Village Haus are a tasty snack (although not the most nutritious with cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and ranch dressing on top)
The ham sandwich at Columbia Harbor House is quite good, and unique (broccoli slaw instead of lettuce gives an extra crunch, and sourdough olive bread sweetens the deal).
The taco salad at El Pirata y El Perico is yummy as well, however the location is only seasonal.
Oh! and Caramel Popcorn is back at Sleepy Hollow!!!

At Epcot, try Tangierine Cafe in Morrocco. They have a wide variety, and generous portions.

Best counter service location at Downtown Disney is Wolfgang Puck Express in the Marketplace. They have a much wider variety than their West-Side counterpart (no pun intended).

I like alot of the counter places, but for my money, the very best counter service restaurant is...drum roll...

Pizzafari!!!!!!!:bounce:

MK - Pecos Bill for fixins' bar, and nice overall atmosphere. Cosmic Ray's has a better overall selection and has Sunny Eclipse! Columbia Harbour House is a good change of pace, but I didn't care for the food much. Good choices, just not great execution.

Epcot - Food court in the Land pavilion. BBQ pork sandwich is my favorite. Cantina de San Angel (Mexico) is good as well.

AK - Flame Tree. Get a table down by the water.

MGM - Pizza Planet is ok. Nice to sit outside and listen to Muppet music. Also, there is a collection of places on the left just before Tower of Terror. Burgers, pizza (including a BBQ chicken pizza), turkey legs, and several other choices. Only drawback is all the seating is outdoors (with some covering of course), so if the heat or rain is getting to you, you might want to go elsewhere.

For good hotdogs you can't beat Casey's Corner at the MK.
