I would love info and suggestions for the best places to get a decent lunch IN the parks without breaking the budget. We are staying @ HRH in May and plan on splurging on evening meals (Tchoup Tchoup, Mythos, Delfino) and need inexpensive options for lunch. Is the counter food any good? If so, what are the best spots? Thanks!!!

There is a counter service stand near Amity that has really good fish 'n chips. You eat at picnic tables next to the lagoon. It is a nice spot and the food is good. I think they may also have hotdogs. I'm sorry I don't remember the name of the place.

The International Food Festival (or something like that) is located near ET. They have a variety of food. The Chinese was good.

Richters is good for burgers. It is located near Earthquake.

Thanks for the suggestions. I cut and pasted them into my itinerary! Anybody else have ideas. We will be there for five days.

Also...at IOA, the burger place upstairs at Discovery Center in Jurassic Park is pretty good. And there are good turkey legs at the Enchanted Oak Tavern in the Lost Continent.

At US I would NOT recommend Mel's drive-in...it looks cool, but the food was not good at all. Limp fries and overcooked burgers with stale buns. We also had sandwiches at Schwabs pharmacy that were not that good, and over priced for what you got. The bread was kind of damp and mushy.

Enchanted Oak is good and the portions are huge. Definitely splittable! Richters burgers at USF is good. Green Eggs and Ham is good as well as Circus McGurkus (both at IOA)

I like Louie's over in New York at Universal Studios. They have pasta and pizza and salads. Yummy stuff! I go there every weekend. :)

My mom likes Richter's Burger and Cafe La Bamba at USF also.

We rarely go to IOA anymore, so can't really say. My parents used to eat at Circus Mcgurkus though.

Cafe Labamba was really good............ based on FlyFly's recommendation we tried it........... and really liked it. Richter Burgers is good too. I too would stay away from Mels......... YUK! We also had horrible food at the International food festival............. a lot of people have had good luck there.......... so, maybe we hit it on a bad day? You can also go to places in citywalk.......... and depending on what you get, it can be pretty reasonable. We loved NBA city, and Margaritaville.......... but had a REALLY REALLY BAD, cannot stress BAD enough meal at Hard Rock.

There is also a place on the wharf............ san francisco side........ I can't think of the name, but it was good too. Someone, what is the name of that restaurant............... the one that overlooks the water.............. it's nice inside....... I'll try to find the name.

WendyPooh...

Are you thinking of Lombard's Seafood Grille, or maybe Captain Quint's Seafood & Chowder House? Hope this helps! :D

I would second the vote for Louie's Pizza in US. We ended up eating there twice on our 7 day trip and son insisted on having his pic taken w/arm around the Louie statue out front. We're going back this July and both boys have marked that place on their list of "must do". Also, I second the opinion of Mel's Drive In. The wait was long and the food was not good. The milkshake was about the best thing between 4 of us eating lunch there.

We loved Louies at US. At IOA, there is alot of great food places. In Jurassic park there is a place that has great ribs, chicken, etc.

Louie's baby!!!! LOL!!!! I go there every weekend too Clare. What a shocker!!!

If you choose Richter's be sure to get there before Noon. That place gets a line that goes beyond the front doors. The portions are quite nice and I do find myslef throwing half of it away though.

Louie's is nice because you can get a whole pepperoni pizza for about $15 (+ tax..hehe) and then you just need drinks (I highly recommend buying a souvenir cup **not the expensive ones** just the $5 one because the refills are about $1.25-$1.75).

is there a way to attach this souvenier drink cup to a bottle strap?

Unless you are really into splurging in a major way, I would re-think Delfino. My wife and I ate there in September. The service was exceptional, the food very good and the atmosphere (except for one drunk woman) was quite nice. However, the bill for two of us was $265.00.
In my opinion, the food at Mama Della's is as good as, if not better than, Delfino, the service is wonderful, and the atmosphere, while not "romantic" like Delfino, is a blast. We have had four of us for dinner at Mama's with drinks, more food than we can eat, and desserts with cappuccino for around $160 including tip.

YES......... Lombards!!! That place was really good!!!!

Thanks Alliekat!! :D

Hmmmm....maybe because we always go together?!?!?! LOL!!!!! :teeth: :p :p

Hi Clare....just been reading all the posts here. I'm surprised Wendypoo didn't like the HRC - we had great meals there. Has it changed in the last year or so?

I don't believe so. My parents eat there still. I have no time to eat there anymore (takes too long to get seated, meals, etc), but my parents are still pleased with it. Just a few unfortunate bad experiences, I guess.

Thanks for all the info. This board is GREAT! Anxiously waiting our trip to HRH in May. Also, can't wait to try happy hour!!

ksdave~ I definately will try Mama's instead of Delfino. Thanks for the heads up!

You're welcome.

Also, if you really love pizza, a great lunch spot is Sal's Market, right next to Mama Della's at PBH. They make them in a brick oven, and the Italian sausage is real sliced sausage, not the crumbled mess the chains use.
