So Southwest is offering the $25 fare for Dec. 2-16. I thought it might be really fun to do a weekend getaway during that time. Do any of you have suggestions of good cities or towns? I am excluding Disney as its more expensive than I'd like for a weekend getaway.

We are from Ohio and I have never been west of Louisiana (if that helps at all).

Thanks for any suggestions!

How about Savannah, GA or Charleston, SC? They're both beautiful towns and are especially gorgeous during Christmas!

Hey, I just checked this out.

Fares START at $25.00, but the further you go, the more they cost.
I suspect that available flights might be limited. On the one I just checked, these rates did not apply to a Sunday return flight.

Have you gone to Southwest web site, put in your departure city, and just played around with some of their destinations?

New York around Christmas would be lovely but also consider that hotel prices there are outrageous. I was going to suggest San Diego if that is included in the sale price. There is so much to do there with the zoo, the ocean, etc.

My vote is for NYC. It is within the lowest milage and qualifies for the actual $25 rate. Plus, there is no place like NYC during the holidays. As a matter of fact, we are planning a trip as well (our 4th this year). Check out travelzoo.com for hotel prices.

We tried to think of some other place to go for a weekend during the holidays but NYC always wins out.

I was going to say Chicago, but it is definitely not warm! What about Gatlinberg? I think you'd have to fly into Knoxville and rent a car, but it is only an hour drive. It is beautiful anytime of year and will have milder temps than the midwest. Their main drag is all decked out with Xmas lights, too.

Go to Arizona! :thumbsup2 Fly to Phoenix, drive up to Sedona, stay there, then go to the Grand Canyon. Gorgeous!!!

These fairs are good Jan 5-Feb 10 dates too!! We have a work trip to Chicago in Mid- Jan and I can't drive to Chicago for $50!!!
