Hi! Me and my friend don't drive, so we will have to get either a coach or trian to Gatwick from Birmingham, i was going to book a National Express coach for May 3rd, returning May 18th, for £57 each, but that seemed a bit steep to me to be honest so I checked train services, and London Midland have a service for less than £40 each, but with 2 stops.

Anybody know the best and cheapest ways we could get there? Thanks!

What time do you need to be at the airport for (flight time?)and what time do you land coming back? Some trains if you book each leg of the journey separate it can be cheaper... still with 2 stops but could save you money. The coach doesnt seem too bad as you need to keep in mind that if one train is delayed for some reason it could mess up the rest of your journey...unless you set off really early to make sure you allow for missed trains etc :goodvibes

The train may be cheaper but you will have the hassle of getting the tube in London from Euston to London Bridge to catch the Gatwick train - may be ok going but wouldn't fancy the journey after a long flight.

Coach may be the better option :)

Try cross country trains, the website just quoted £54.50 return each on the dates you provided but obviously i didnt know the times you need.
The one change was at Reading, so a bit better than a cross London tube journey

Sorry forgot to include my times, would need to arrive before 9am and leave after 8am I think.

Does Birmingham go to St Pancras? You can change trains there for Gatwick without the tube.

Mickey they go to london euston and marylabone. Ben I would say the coach is best.I did this route by train years ago and it was a nightmare. The coach although longer is straight through.Where do you live in the midlands?
You can use quidco as well for both train and coach.Coch I think left dudley at 04.30.Coming back you will have to allow for possible delays .

I'm in Tamworth, about 20 minuts from Bham. Just checked National Express and it's £50 from Birmingham Coach station instea dof 57 from BHX, I'll go with the coach then. Thanks for the help guys.

Did you check prices for the train from Nuneaton. I often go to London from Nuneaton with London Midland.

There is a train which I have looked at, leaves Warwick parkway 05:40 and arrives at Gatwick 08:48.
Might be worth looking at that option

A further possible option would be if you can get a lift down to Bedford/Luton Parkway you could get the First Capital Connect train directly through to Gatwick (several trains will get you there before 0900). Takes around 1-1/2 hours from Luton Parkway.
