Where would you recommend a character meal and what time of day for a newbie? What should we expect to pay - we are 2 adults, 1 senior, and 4 kids - 11, 8, 4, & 2.

And how far in advance to book?

Our favorite is Chef Mickey Dinner. The main characters are there, it is lively and fun and we find the buffet good.(you will find mix reviews on it). It is a must on every one of our trips. Book ASAP.

All the prices are posted on the Disney Dining pages. The choices are here -> http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/dining/listing/?sortBy=nG:hasDiningExperienceFacet&fv_222815=on each choice has the price on the page.

Regarding the time of day, it all depends on what you are and how you eat. Some people prefer to book the first possible breakfast at CRT or CP so they can walk down an empty Main Street for some good pictures. Other people prefer to book the last breakfast sitting and have it count for lunch as well. And the options that don't offer lunch, you may get more character interactions. Some people like booking say a 3 o'clock lunch and having it count for dinner as well.

I would them as soon as possible. The 180 day mark if possible, or today if you are already within that mark.

Some people book their meals based off of preferred characters. If you don't like Stitch, then you wouldn't want to book Ohana for example.

It really depends on what characters you love I think. One of our favorites is O'hana because we love Stitch and they have a really good breakfast. We didnt' like Donald's Safari Breakfast because, while the food was good, the charachters just weren't our favorites. (my son said it was the lack of Stitch LOL) How far out you book depends on how serious you are about the time you want, and how popular the place is. As with most everything when it comes to booking at Disney, the earlier you do it the better.

Every meal is probably going to be listed here pretty soon, lol.

For food, we like Donald's breakfast at AK. Really enjoy the unusual food. I think it has some of the worst character interaction though and the place is very noisy.

For character interaction, we like breakfast at Cape May with Minnie, Goofy and Donald. We are in our 50's (we go 3 generations, taking our kids and grandkids) and this is definitely the quietest one. You can almost enjoy being at this one.

Crystal Palace! We prefer for breakfast...Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore and Piglet...delicious fresh buffet!!

Book as early as you can...

Since you ask about price, I would assume you plan on paying OOP for this meal. In that case I would stick with a character breakfast for a few reasons. One, is that we don't really care for the food at the character dinners. Things tend to be either over cooked, undercooked, bland or cold (when it should be hot). Another reason I would stick with a character breakfast is simply that they are less expensive and at 4 adults and 2 kids (the 11 year old is considered an adult and the 2 year old would have no cost), the cost can get pretty steep.

I am on the side that, when it comes to breakfast, there isn't too much difference from one character meal to another when it comes to food quality. It really comes down to which characters you want to see. The only place to see all of the Fab. 5 is Chef Mickey's if that is who you really want to see. TH @ AK has Donald (greets you outside), Daisy, Goofy and Mickey come to the tables. Princesses can be found at Akershus and CRT (we like Akershus better but CRT gives you the experience of eating in the castle). Lilo, Stitch, Mickey and Pluto are at 'Ohana. Pooh and friends are at Crystal Palace. Cape May has Minnie, Donald and Goofy. 1900 Park Fare has Mary Poppins, Alice, Mad Hatter, Pooh and Tigger. That is the quick version and I am sure I missed one or 2.

Also note that characters are subject to change. The characters that may be listed here or anywhere else can change on a day to day basis. :thumbsup2

Garden Grill at Epcot...............a must!!

CHip n Dale are super interactive and tease the kids alot. They would snatch my sons hat of his head, my DD brought her CHip n Dale toys with her and CHip took the Dale toy and rubbed it on his arm pit and then Dale ran over there and shook his butt at Chip. It was very funny. A whole lot more happened but we were thier for 1.5 hours so I would be typing for a long time to tell you all the funny antics.

You should absolutly go there......another +....you get to have veggies grown from thier greenhouse at the Land

The only one's we did were Chef Mickey's, Crystal Palace and 'Ohana and I think 'Ohana was our favorite based on good food and good character interaction. While we loved the characters at Crystal Palace, we were not impressed with the main foods, we really only enjoyed the desserts there. Breakfast at Chef Mickey's was just OK too to us and the characters were good but they moved away so quickly and Donald never even came to our table. Each of those cost us about $80+ for 2 adults and 2 kids.
