Dh and I will be in WDW in October to celebrate my dd 3rd birthday. We want to do a character meal on the day of her birthday, which is the best? Is it better to do breakfast or dinner? How long should I expect to be at the meal? I have heard people say they last a long time are we talking an hour or more?

Thanks in advance!

BTW I am Andrea, I live in NY and I have not been to WDW since I was a kid, I am having so much fun planning. We are going from Oct 13-16 and staying in ASM.

For a character meal for her 3rd birthday, I'd suggest Chef Mickey's! It's definitely fun and either meal is great! We usually spend about an hour for breakfast, and about an hour and a half for dinner. It is however, a buffet, so depending on how quick you get the food and how quickly the characters circulate will also be deciding factors on time. Hope that helps! Enjoy! :)

What characters does she like the best? We have only been to 2 character meals, but with DDs 6 and 3, they were both princess meals! In the castle and at Norway. I would go by what her favorite characters are.

We had a late breakfast at CRT and tried to make that do for breakfast and lunch. I think we will try for character suppers this time since breakfast is the meal we can do on the cheap with stuff from home.

Crystal palace has a buffet for all 3 meals and has pooh, piglet, tigger, and Eeyore. Thay come round pretty regularly and the atmosphere is (slightly) quieter than Chef Mickeys. Check out menus for all character meals at

Welcome to the DIS :Pinkbounc We have eaten at most of the character meals and I agree with the previous poster--it usually takes around an hour for breakfast and a little bit longer for dinner. We try to get the earliest seatings for any meal, though. I would pick a character meal that has the characters your DD would most like to see. Our DD#2--who has been visiting WDW since she was 2--LOVES the Princesses so the Princess Storybook Breakfast is a must-do every trip. Another of our favorite character breakfasts is the Crystal Palace. It's Winnie the Pooh and friends. If you can get the earliest seating (8:05 am) you will be in the Magic Kingdom before it opens. There are lots of great photo ops with no extra people in them and after breakfast you can scoot over to Fantasyland before the masses make it up Main Street.

DD likes the Princesses of course :rotfl:

That is a good idea to do the Cinderella Castle late seating breakfast so it will double as a lunch and a nice rest. The only thing with the Cinderella is it is 2 of our 3 table meals from the dining plan, so I wasn't sure if it was worth it, kwim?

keep the suggestions coming please.
