at Dland we do Goofys kitchen. Food is sub-par but we know we do it more for the characters and AYCE (with a 17 year old boy that’s important)

So would chef mickeys be good? Open to other suggestions.

From what I see online (having never been to Goofy's Kitchen) chef mickey's would be the most equivalent.

But for my money, I'd say go to Hollywood and Vine. I never cared for the "chef" theme myself or the amount of chaos there always seems to be in that restaurant when you pass by, but I LOVE the costumes on the characters at Hollywood and Vine. I found the food decent, not as great as the most shining reviews but nowhere near as bad as some of the bad reviews say. It was solidly decent and awesome with Fantasmic! dinner package. It's Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy and Goofy. The character interaction was best of our entire trip. Don't do breakfast there though, it's Disney Junior characters. It's the same price as chef mickey's and a few $$ more for the package.

If you do care about food and don't mind the safari theme, there is also Tusker House, which has the same as H&V for characters but in Safari clothing. The food there is quite good, though some will say it has gone downhill... I had a very good meal there last time I was there last December.

Just want to point out that Minnie Mouse and Pluto aren't at Tusker House, in case those characters are important to you, and Pluto also isn't at H&V. Chef Mickeys, although consistent with getting not so great reviews, is the only meal that has all of the 'fab 5' together at one meal. There's also Garden Grill at Epcot which has Mickey, Pluto, Chip & Dale, and Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club resort for breakfast with Minnie, Donald, & Goofy

Is the Tusker house buffet? And do they have kid friendly food? I have rain forest cafe reserved for our animal kingdom day. But think the 6 year old would love seeing characters in safari gear.

Thanks for all your help!!!

Garden Grill is our favorite character meal. Best interaction by far and we always see the characters multiple times. It's also super nice that food is delivered to the table family style so you don't miss a character going up to the buffet.

Yes. Tusker House Breakfast is a character meal with kid friendly food

I guess I should’ve said that we will likely eat breakfasts in our room so looking for a lunch/dinner option. Haven’t had a chance to look online at options yet :)

I vote also for garden grill at Epcot. Good food, great interaction with characters from our experiences, and seating seems more "private" with the tall booth seats.

We like Chef Mickey's, but Tusker House is our new favorite for both the food and character experience.

Tusker House does beat the others in food choices, by far and large.
Next for us is Garden Grill. Though the options are much more limited. What they do have is very good. Nice to remain seated too.
Then there's the rest, which are really just bad food.

Characters are at all meals. It’s our favorite and the only one we repeat. My kids are 16 and 12.

Tucker’s House breakfast is the best character buffet on property. The food is so good.

Tusker House dinner was delicious for adults and kids alike, and the characters in their safari gear are adorable!

I'll echo some others and say if you want good food to go with the Characters then Tusker House is your hands down best choice. It is the last holdout from the "feed them swill because all they care about is pictures" mentality that permeates character meals on property. That is a slight exaggeration but barely.
