I'm looking to rent a car after we finish our time at DLR and head to San Diego. I've always rented from Hertz and have never had a problem. It looks like the closest Hertz office is about 3-1/2 miles away, but Alamo is located in Downtown Disney. I would love to hear others' experiences with Alamo, Hertz, or other company you would recommend.

We just got back from Disneyland yesterday and we rented a car from Alamo. We stayed at the Disneyland Hotel and the Alamo office is practically next to it. Alamo also had the best deal for us on a full-sized rental. I used a coupon off of their website too.

Because we were renting the car for 5 days we got the 7 day rate. We decided to pick the car up a day early and we just left it in their lot so we didn't have to pay $15 for parking at the hotel. The morning we checked out of the hotel we planned to go to the parks all day. Instead of taking our bags to bell services, we just walked them to the car and left them there. It was easy. We returned the car to LAX and had no problems. It just took a while for the bus to get to our terminal from the Alamo return lot though.

Do you think they would let me do the opposite? Rent the car at LAX and return at Downtown Disney? I want to get to the parks as fast as I can right after I land at LAX, but I don't mind taking the SuperShuttle back to LAX when I leave.

It should be the same price. You can check their rates on their website.

We always use Alamo at Downtown Disney. Service has always been excellent, save money on parking (even when we stay at GCH, extremely convenient.
We catch the Disney Shuttle bus to and from LAX so we don't have to fight traffic after a long flight from Hawaii there and a day at the park before we leave.
Just leave your bags at the Bell desk and pick it up right before it's time to leave.

There is a much closer Hertz office, it's in the Convention Center Hilton. They also have a lot on the block east of Garden Walk east on Katella.

I've used both the Hertz and Avis on Katella, doing one way rentals from Santa Barbara to Anaheim.

I just choose whichever is cheapest.

One thing to note is that those locations are not open late. The Hertz closed at 3 pm, so I had to be there by 2:30 in order to catch a ride from them back to Disney. Avis closes at 4pm, so they want you there before 3:30. Both are only 5 minutes from Disney and will drive you back there or to any hotel nearby there.

Do you know if hertz or Avis will pick you up at a DLR hotel and take you to their office? We plan to take the shuttle from LAX and then rent on the morning we leave Disney.

Not sure, but I would call each of those offices directly and ask them.

We rented from Alamo in DTD when we had to ship our truck to Hawaii. It was convenient, easy, and stress-free. We drove our truck to DLH and only needed the rental car on the last day of our DLR vacation to drop the truck off at the docks, then on to LAX.

The price for the one-way rental was very reasonable and the people at the counter in DTD were great. When they learned we were transporting a lot of luggage, they offered us a Lincoln MKS, which was several levels above the standard car class I had reserved. My DW loved driving that car!

Take a look at the Alamo web site and compare the one-way rates. Be sure to join their "Alamo Insiders" club to get more discounts.

I know this is an old thread, but has anyone used Alamo to p/u a vehicle in DTD recently? We reserved a car to be picked up when we are there in November, it's going to be a o/w from there to LV. I read some negative reviews on Yelp from people saying they couldn't find the office, and Im not sure if it has moved or not? I don't like surprises, just want the best option for us. The resort we are staying at in LV gives discounts on Avis, but I figured with Alamo being in DTD it is more convenient (we are staying at the DL hotel) although we do have to drop it off to the LV airport & then get a shuttle downtown, but I know it will still be cheaper than the rate I was quoted with Avis, by about $40. Thanks!

I'd love an update on this too. I'm hoping to pick up at car at LAX on a Sunday and return it to DTD on a Thursday night. We're staying in LA for the first part of the trip and then checking to the DLH. We'd like to take the Disneyland express bus back to the airport after our DLR time.

There's a budget rent a car in the Anaheim suites hotel which is within walking distance (5min) of DL. They allow you to pick up at DL and return at lax. We actually got our car at lax and drove which took about 35min. each way.

We rented an SUV from Alamo in DtD in late April. The location wasn't hard for us to find at all. Walk down the sidewalk between Earl of Sandwich and DLH. Its right there in the same building as Earl. As others stated, we found the service friendly, warm, welcoming, & helpful. We'd definitely rent there again in a heartbeat.

That makes me feel so much better knowing it's right there! I'm still a little concerned about all the transferring we have to do in LV @ the airport though-so I reserved an Avis car just in case we change our minds later-with them we can drop it off right @ our resort. Wish they were the ones @ DTD!
