Best Calamari

I'd like your opinion of which restaurant serves the most delicious calamari appetizer. I've seen it on the menu at Coral Reef, Narcoosees and others. Which restaurant has the best?

Great to know. I have ADR's at Portobello Yacht Club...sounds like we should give the Calamari a try. Maybe I can squeeze in Alfredo's for lunch one day. We're eating at Narcoosees too. Thanks!

The tomato sauce served with the fried calamari at Coral Reef was fantastic. Very spicy and flavorful. The calamari itself was tasty and cooked just right. It was that sauce that made an impression on me, though. (I was wishing for it the next night at Tony's when I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs. Their sauce was very bland.) I'm trying to remember, I think this was the restaurant that served the calamari in a paper packet, which I thought was novel.

I'm looking through the menus trying to remember the other place we ordered it. It must have been at Tony's. It wasn't served with a spaghetti sauce dip, but something closer to the dip you typically get with a blooming onion. We weren't impressed with it, as it wasn't served to us very hot. I suppose this was more a server issue than a problem with the dish itself, though.

Can someone tell me what calamari tastes like? I'm a huge seafood fan, but I've never had it. Is there anything it tastes similar to? I'm willing to try it, although I'm a little hesitant.

Has the same texture as a clam strip and if they over cook it the calamari will feel like you are chewing a rubber band...it is all in the coating, the lighter for me the better...I hate a heavy breading on my calamari
