Best building to request in SSR

I will be staying in SSR from 19th to 27th Dec this year. Have never been there before and just wondering which is the best building to stay in. I have a son who is 7 and will just love the pool (hope its warm like last year). Main concern though would be to stay somewhere wuiet. Don't mind people noise but don't really want to hear noise from DTD (music) Not sure if thats even an issue, just thought it might be due to being so close.

Also, do they do anything special there at Christmas. Stayed at FW last year and was a little dispappointed with the Christmas activities, I live in england and Christmas is a big thing here so guess I was expecting something different.
Any thoughts much appreciated.

We have just been and we stayed at Grandstand.We like the quiet and very much enjoyed the hustle and bustle of the parks and SSR community areas.It was also nice to have a walk around the Grounds.we were about 300 yards from the new Grandstand pool and our boys loved the Dive in movie that was shown Mon ,Wed and Fridays.we didn't think the walk from Grandstand to the Main community pool was a problem.Have a nice stay

Thanks. I didn't realise they had built a new Grandstand pool. Have never heard of the dive in movies. what are they? I love movies and so does my son so sounds like fun. I really can't wait to go.

The dive in movies start 8.30-9pm and are shown on a screen by the pool. The movies are disney movies and the kids loved being able to watch the movie while swimming - great fun!

We stayed at Congress Park (closest to Downtown Disney). We did not hear ANY noise. It was beautiful. The resort is HUGE! I don't beleive (but not sure) that DVC has any rooms close to the main pool. It has been my experience (after only 2 DVC trips) that DVC villas are away from everyone else (including the main building). Does anyone know if that is true?

Sounds like you may like the two buildings in the Grandstand that are closest to the quiet pool. I don't remember their numbers, but the room numbers are in the 8000 range. The other two buildings at Grandstand are in the 9000 range. The Grandstand is the first bus stop which is nice! The buildings closest to the pool are just a short walk away from the main pool and restaurants. The others would be comparable to a walk from Congress Park.

For us (4 kids) we like to stay near the main Springs pool and restaurant/snack shop. We stay in the Springs section which is a very short walk to the pool and food. You hear NO noise from DD, but then again, we have stayed near the water across from DD and didnt hear any noise there either.
