Best Buffets?

I've only been to two.

I didn't much care for Golden Corral. Tons of options and most of the food seemed fresh--it just didn't seem like the highest quality food and the environment was pretty chaotic.

I did enjoy going to Sweet Tomatoes. They feature a huge salad bar...along with all different kinds of soups and prepared salads and ice cream. I'd go back.

We've never eaten off Disney property but our favorite Disney buffets are-

1) Crystal Palace- MK
2) Cape May Cafe- Beach Club
3) Tusker House- AK

Good Morning...

Ahhh buffets, we do our share during our 3 months in Kissimmee...

I guess I would put them in 2 catagories...

The high end Disney buffets that are not cheap and the 9-12 dollar buffets. Of course there are the all you can eat seafood places and the Chinese buffets. For some reason we do not go to the Chinese buffets in Florida. Not sure why as we do in Iowa! The all you can eat seafood usually involve either Boston's or Angel's. Both have mixed reviews with Angel's finishing a distant second on these boards. We like Crabby Joes in the Clarion on 192 between Old Lake Wilson Road and Formosa Gardens Blvd. It got some iffy reviews but if like all you can eat crab legs that I thought we large, fresh, and easy to crack, Iwould recommend it...It is about $25.

Disney buffets are excellent. In the hotels the two big ones are Boma's at Akingdom and Cape May in The Beach Club. Both are excellent but close to $40.

Badgergirl (I am a Hawkeye so we love the Badgers!) mentioned the two biggies in the area for a reasonable price. I agree that GCorral is hectic and noisy but food is always pretty fresh and they do a nice job with most items.
Sweet Tomatoes is very very popular and passes for healthy eating. They just opened a new buffet on 192 by Target.

Hope this helps...enjoy...Ted

i'm a big fan of boma onsite.

for a fancy offsite option, posters have recommended villa de flora at the gaylord resort.

there's also a china buffet at 12173 South Apopka Vineland Road that gets pretty good reviews.

I like how people try to pass ST as healthy. You wouldn't have a very good meal there if you stuck to healthy. Fat laden dressings and I am sure their creamy soups aren't that good either. I admit it is good and the food is fresh, but it isn't necessarily healthy.

I think Golden Corral is good for what they do,I prefer to eat at the ones in the Orlando tourist areas as they're usually busy so you know the food is not sitting around for long.Sweet Tomatoes has good soups and tons of items in the salad area, but my favorites there are the bakery items like the blueberry muffins.Of the Disney ones specifically for the dinner buffet Boma is my favorite as you can get more unique items,I'm not a big fan of Cape May as I'm not big on all the seafood items.Over at the Swan I tried Garden Grove once with a restaurant.com certificate, while it was OK I couldn't see myself eating there without the certificate as at 8pm they weren't very busy and the items were not being restocked. The amount of items was also pretty disappointing for the price they're charging.

Hi again, IMHO, I can eat very healthy (not that I always do!) at GCorral.
They have lots of plain fruits and veges and sweet potatoes that are not cooked in sauce. Also a big roast turkey where you cut your own white or dark, a nice baked fish, stewed tomatoes, baked chicken, lima beans, pinto beans, and usually a pretty plain vege soup.

Again, not that I always eat those items but I hardly ever miss the sweet potatoes, fruit, and turkey.

Have fun...Ted
