Best buffet?

I love Boma -- in addition to being a great venue (and really the only reason I got to the lovely AKL), there is a wide variety of foods, prepared well.

My brother and sister-in-law are fans of the breakfast buffet there as well, but that is merely hearsay

Boma and Cape May both for dinner. Not sure about breakfast. 43 more days will be our first at Beach Club.

Our favorite buffet was Boma. This last trip Cape May got our vote.

For charater buffets Chef Mickey's and Crystal Palace was not only great food but great character interaction with the children.

I wish I was back eating at these places right now

I like the Galley Restaurant for breakfast buffet, quiet, good food, good service and I like the decor of the restaurant..

I also like Cape May as an all you can eat American Buffet, very busy so make sure you arrive early for your ADR and be prepared to wait a bit, it is that busy..

Great choice I love boma!!! The soups and deserts are so yummy! We're heading ther again on our next trip, cant wait!

I think people are being unfair to Hollywood & Vine. We've eaten there twice and both times the food was good. Not our favorite buffet at WDW (see below) but certainly a good place to eat if you're in MGM. Oh, and it was clean and well-kept when we were there as well.

But the best buffet at WDW is Boma.

I dislike Boma -- but mainly because I don't like spicy foods (which is the theme here). (Side not: I have a camera phone picture of 8 electric carts parked outside while their overly large owners ate inside...)

I've never had a bad meal at Ohana or Whispering Canyon Cafe -- I think both are excellent. Cape May has been hit-or-miss (about 50/50). I've had too many poor meals at Chef Mickey's -- overcooked/dried-out food, dirty/sticky plates/silverware, kids sticking their fingers into the serving trays, etc. I've only ate at Trail's End twice in recent years -- first experience was excellent, second was poor.

Boma's is an awesome place! There are many new foods to sample and some stand by goodies for those not to brave (eg pasta, meatballs, mac & cheese, chicken nuggest). We loved it and will go back (twice) on our next trip!

DH and I did not find food @Boma overly spicy. I am sure Chefs are aware of diner's taste buds and are careful not to add too much spice.

How I wish I could eat there tonight!

p.s. Please, be careful what you say about overly large people with 8 ECVs. We/You do not know what their physical disabilities may have been.

I agree! Boma is our favorite dinner buffet, Crystal Palace is our favorite character dinner buffet. The food at CP is good, and far different from the normal food at character dinners (like the flank steak you get at both the Garden Grill and Liberty Tree Tavern for instance).

I am what you would consider an "overly large" person and due to medical conditions that have nothing to do with my weight I had to rent an ecv to get around the parks this trip. Without one I would not be able to enjoy the parks with my husband and son. I take offense to the assumption that all large people use ecv's because of their weight, that they're lazy and just don't want to walk around, etc. Believe me I'd love to be enjoying the park on my own steam and not with the ecv but that's just not an option and I could also do without the expense of renting one. So please be careful what you say about large people and ecv's.

As far as buffets go...
We've done breafast at Chef Mickey's before and enjoyed it but this year was our first for dinner and we were happy with the food. We always enjoy Crystal Palace and 1900 Park Fare. We did Hollywood and Vine for breakfast this year and while the food wasn't necessarily something we'd rave about we weren't unhappy with it either. We don't usually do non-character buffets so I don't have an opinion to offer for those.

My favorite character buffets are the Crystal Palace and 1900 Park Fare. Non-character is Boma hands down. Sadly my DH does not agree, so we're skipping it this trip. I may need therapy to recover.

Sorry to be a dissenter, but my family did not care for Boma's at all. We like spicy foods, so that wasn't the issue. The predominant "spice" in Boma's food IMO is very sweet, not hot. If you don't like super sweet food (think sweet potato concoctions), you won't like Boma.

That said, I'm perplexed over why somebody would or wouldn't choose this restaurant based on the number of ECV's parked in front. That's a weird comment!

Been to dinner at the Crystal Palace twice and loved it. Great food, atmosphere and characters.

If you want something outside the parks and where you can get a cocktail, then I'd say Cape May is a good bet.

We're planning to try 1900 Park Faire next trip. The menus always look great there.

Biergarten in Germany and Trails End in FW are the best in my experience as far as food. Character buffet would be Chef Mickey's!
