I need a new slow cooker. I have had Rival and they seem to last 3 years then crack (liner) or just break. Any good recommendations.

Thanks

I have had two (different sizes) of the Crockpot brand and they are still going. My first, I have had over 30 years and it is still going, but the crock does not lift out for cleaning. My other one is larger and has the lift out crock. They are reliable, but the ones I have are not fancy (as in having a timer, etc).

Has quality gone downhill in 25 years? My Rival crockpot with the lift-out stoneware crock is still going strong. It has somehow survived for almost 25 years! The crock has lots of scratches and scrapes, but no cracks. I use it once or twice a week for at least eight months a year. I thought the plastic lid would have been destroyed by now, but it's also held up well. I run both through the dishwasher, too.

Wonder why yours crack so often? Do you let it cool before you wash it? If it's too hot and you put cold water inside, that might cause it to crack.

I have crockpot envy - I want a fancier one. This one has two temperature settings: boil and warm. A "medium" setting would be nice. An on/off timer would be great, too.

Good luck in your search!

Check out your local Goodwill. I've found, lately, that the best ones aren't produced anymore. I've tried two new ones in the last year, and they cook way too fast and burn things...yikes!! The older ones don't run so high/hot. They don't have the fancy timers though...usually just low and high.

Good luck. Its tougher than it should be to find a good slow cooker anymore.

Just get one of those timers like you use to have your lights turn on and off, then plug the crockpot into that (I don't do this, but my Mom does, and says it works great!)

I too need a new one, DH went to use it the other day and he had the roast in for 4 hrs on high and it was just barely starting to cook. I have had mine for about 4yrs, Can't remember what brand I have.

If you live near any Bed Bath & Beyond stores be sure to check their clearance section. I saw a small Hamilton Beach with digital controls the other day for $15 (originally $30), I was tempted but I already have 2, one large and a smaller one like the one I saw but mine is not digital.

I've had both of mine for several years and I've been very happy with them both!:thumbsup2 I spent $40 for the large one and have made many holiday dinners in that one. The small one is good for a regular dinner. Both are the type that have the ceramic crock that rests in the metal heater.

I had gotten a metal Rival for my wedding shower but it didn't last more than 5 years. Both my HB are at least 10 yrs old.:goodvibes
