Best Budget Hotel

Planning my first ever Disneyland trip and I am SO EXCITED! What hotel that is budget-friendly and within walking distance of the park would you recommend? I booked the Anaheim Maingate Inn, but am now feeling very scared off by reviews.

EDIT: For context: I'm a solo traveler, female in my 20s so I don't want anything too sketchy but I am on the tightest budget possible for housing (yet I'd really prefer not to go home with a bedbug infestation). I won't have a car, so prefer walking distance to the parks. I may "splurge" on something between $100-$150 a night for some peace of mind though.

Budget is in the eye of the beholder... Case in point, my first 2 trips, I paid $44 and $57 per night at Super 8 Katella. I about choked hearing people paying $120+/night. Now, prices have increased over the past 6.5 years, of course, and I think nothing of spending $120-150/night to be across the street at Tropicana.

So, for us, our "budget" walkable choice is Tropicana. If you book early and don't mind a hard bed, you can get some awesome rates at Desert Inn and Suites (this is a personal no-go for my family, but others like it). If you are willing to drive, we liked Baymont on Beach (under $125 for a 2-room suite!). I also recently tried BW Stovall's on Katella. 15-20 minute walk, but nearly all on Disney property, for around $100/night (not sure of exact rack rate, as I used my military discount, which made the room $95).

How much per night are you talking about? Also what time of the year? Will you need parking? There are deals to be had but great deals within walking distance is tricky to get.

I've found out it depends on what's happening at the time. I've done the Alpine Inn and the rates vary from $90 to $200 a night. For the best rate for your time,,call the hotel/motel direct. Ask for the 2nd cousin rate.

For "budget" I like Best Western Stovall's. I can usually get a room for about $115 per night with a free breakfast. It's within walking distance and fairly safe. Beds are a little hard, but it's clean. But if you're looking for something cheaper, I don't know. I won't stay at most of the cheaper motels in the area as I've read too many stories of how dirty they are. I've heard the Super 8 is okay and Motel 6 is also fine.

Just for 'grins and giggles',,I went to trivago and tripadvisor. Trivago,$170/nite. Tripadvisor,$125/nite. The choice is yours.

I've used Priceline successfully in the Anaheim area over the years to get really good deals. The best bargains are using Bid Your Own Price or Express Deals. You do have to be careful about picking the area, because you may not end up as close as you want to this way. But I've paid as little as $35 this way, so I'm willing to take a risk on not being directly across Harbor Blvd.

When I go solo , I stay at Quality Inn on South Manchester.. Go on line and join their Choice Privileges to get the best deal . Short walk, pool, breakfast, clean low budget ..Ask for 2nd floor so you dont hear people walking on your ceiling and ask for room away from freeway and pool for quiet.

I stayed at Alamo Inn earlier this month for $190 for two nights (taxes included). I was happy with my room and the walk to the park (thru DTD - enter by DLH/Earl of Sandwich).

Lots of people like it! Definitely not typically a budget hotel like the original post was asking for, which is why it wasn't mentioned

I agree with what is your idea of budget and how far are you willing to walk. We usually stay at Dessert Inn. Not THE cheapest but not bad if you book early and we have an AP so get a bit cheaper for that. Also if you don't have a car you don't have to pay for parking. I have stayed at the Grand Legacy and it is also not too bad but it is a bit more than it used to be because of the remodel. I have heard people staying at the Super 8 or a holiday Inn but they are on the back side and a much farther walk I think.

Tropicana is our go-to for our trips. When my DD turned 18, that is where I booked her and her friends for her birthday celebration. I had previously booked our family there, and it is great for location. If you book far enough in advance, you can get a good deal as well.

You can sometimes find rooms for under $150 at Anaheim Desert Inn and Suites, Hojo on Harbor, BW Stovalls Inn. I've stayed at all and would recommend all 3. Hojo would be my personal choice for the interior corridors. I would feel safe walking alone to/from any of them.
