LOL I know nothing about OKW.....except that we want to stay there and so we are in July for 7 nights in a 2br. So could someone please tell me best locations for lots of pool time/close to main building and boat docks. Thanks a bunch.

It really depends on what type of pool time you want. We prefer South Point or Turtle Pond quiet pools but if you want the main pool you should ask for near HH. This is now a guaranteed reservation request so if you don't already have it you should call MS and see if you can get it. If you have people sleeping in the living room be aware that to get to either bathroom they will need to go through on of the bedrooms in these buildings if that makes a difference. In buildings with numbers above 30 there is an extra door to the bathroom through the laundry room.

When you reserve, just book the Hospitality House booking catagory. That will guarantee that you will be near the main pool, check in area, and Olivia's. If you are in any other location, you can always take ANY bus from the nearest bus stop and be at the main area in a few minutes, since all buses stop there before leaving the resort. We really like the South point area too, but many folks with kids think the Turtle Pond pool is a good second to the main pool.

I was a fan of not being near it all...lol...however with taking my mom (70) and my brothers family, all first timers, I thought it best to be near it all. THey changed our res to the HH category.

We are in a 2 bdr in June...will let you know:)

We were in building 26 last July in a 2 bedroom and it was PERFECT! We took another family for their first visit, and they had small kids, and they loved where we were. Our view was both water/golf green, so we could relax or feed the ducks (fountain in the water as well). We were steps away from the bus stop, but also quick walk over the lovely bridge to the HH bus stop, boat dock and main pool. We learned to walk to HH to catch the bus on its last stop before heading out of the resort, and our stop was the first stop on the way back from the parks. We'll be requesting this building for our 1 bedroom this June.

Are there any bus turn arounds in the HH area?

Bobbi:goodvibes

NO we won't have people using the livingroom area. Are there bldgs above 30....in the HH area??

IS it too late to request this. I have already made my ressie at OKW??

The HH "area" consists of Buildings 11-14, 23-26. There are certainly other areas near HH, including the elevator buildings (62-64), but they are not presently included in that definition.

IMO, 11-18, 62-64 and 23-29 are all close enough to HH to be locations close to Olivia's, the main pool, etc and even there, I don't find that to be important since you can easily get to the HH area by using any bus from any area of the resort.

Buildings above #30 are in the Turtle Pond or South Point areas (plus the already mentioned 62-64). Buildings above #30 all have a second access to the master BR in 1BR villas - buildings 11-29 have access only thru the bedroom.

So is HH a booking category now? Okay...have you stayed at SSR? Would you say that the Turtle Pond or South Point areas are as far as Carousel and Paddocks from SSR's main bldg? I am just trying to get a grasp on how far this is. We stayed at Congress Park and Grandstand when we were at SSR.

Are these the original (first bldg. built at OKW)

Are these the original (first bldg. built at OKW)

The first phase of construction at OKW was Buildings 11-29. The Old Turtle Pond area was next - Buildings 30-44 - followed by the South Point area - Buildings 45 - 56. The walkway to DD begins behind Building 55. Both Turtle Pond and South Point have pools and the one at Turtle Pond also has a snack bar (and tennis courts are nearby too). There is another pool between Buildings 19 and 20 in the Miller Road area.

The most recent buildings (and final phase) are 62-64 which are located near HH, between #14,15 and 16. They are on the site of the original DVC sales center - Commodore House and were constructed after the resort had originally sold out.

All buildings numbered 30 and above have the dual doorways into the master bathroom. One thru the bedroom and one thru the laundry room.

Doc, I'm so glad you posted this! I've always wondered what the secret was to get one of those rooms. ;)

Next time I'm definitely going to request either building 45, 46, or 55.

SO you can walk to DTD from OKW?? I didn't realize this??? So if we requested the bldg. 62-64 would that be fairly close to HH and main pool? How long a walk?

We were actually in Bldg. 64 on our NYE trip this year and it was by far the best view we have ever had during any of our DVC stays. From our HUGE balcony we overlooked the golf course, the bridge, and the water feature (don't really think they call it a spring, but it looks like one). The walk to HH was not long at all, in fact, the CM at checkin told us that the HH bus stop was the closest stop for our bldg. The only negative would be that I think this bldg. is the only one without a parking lot directly in front of it...you have to use the parking on either side of the bldg. We did not find this to be a problem, and even if we had, that gorgeous view would have made us forget all about the parking.

64 is very close to HH, but about as far from the walkway to DTD as you can get.

We were in this building and I loved the elevator but since we were in a studio on an upper floor on the left side as you look at the building our view was of another building's roof and the side of the building we were in with just a little bit of the green golf course showing through. It was definitely the worst view I have had but would take it again just to be at OKW. I think only that area of that building would have the restricted view. Am hoping for building 55 or one in the turlte pond area for our trip in 2 weeks.

I know the area you are talking about...in fact, we were in a 1 BR lockoff on the 3rd floor and I remember thinking that the balcony for the studio next door seemed like it was kind of tucked away and that their view was totally of the balconies in the bldg next to us. Who knows, that may be the studio you were in. I can see why that view would not have been as good as ours was.
