I'll try not to be long..... (sorry Pop Daddy
)
I turned 40 last week. For about two years I've been saying I wanted a party when I turned 40, but I assumed it fell on deaf ears. Anyhow.... DH planned me a terrific surprise party at the local country club.
I won't go into too much detail, but my DB and SIL and nephews from PA were there, as well as most all of DH's siblings and their families, and my two double-first cousins (who are like sisters to me) and their families and my aunt and uncle and my parents... all from MA. I was truly surprised and I cried briefly (which I hate to do).
We had a great brunch (eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, pancakes, seafood newburg, chicken cordonbleu, muffins, pastries, juice, coffee) and DH had created a powerpoint presentation full of photos of me from baby til now (many from Disney, since he knows how much I love it). Plus my mom had made a poster of photos of me growing up and bought a gorgeous cake decorated in my favorite color... pink. Plus there were pink balloons everywhere (what's a party without balloons?).
My mom had suggested that my gifts be $$ for a patio set for my new deck so I got lots of $$ for that. Plus DD had bought me a Disney Recipes book from the book sale at school and she had made me a scrapbook page (she is 8) of photos from our last WDW visit and wrote "Endless memorys " (sic) on it! One of my husband's nieces and sister wrote a song about me to the tune of "Help me Rhonda" and they ALL sang to me. After the party everyone came back to the house to swim and eat more (I wondered why DH had bought SO MUCH food at BJ's the day before, considering we were only have about 6-8 people over for Father's Day!).
Fortunately the house was clean, since I was expecting a few people for Father's Day.... unfortunately the pool was not clean (kinda green), but the kids didn't care and they swam anyway!!
I guess the reason that my DH has been working gung-ho on the new deck was so that it could be used during the party. Unfortunately the special order decking from HD was over 14 days late (it arrived this past Friday) and so the deck was not finished. But we sat on the pool deck and around the yard and it was fine.
I just wanted to brag about my party and my wonderful DH who worked so hard planning the WHOLE THING!! ( And my DS and DD who managed to keep quiet about the whole thing!) I am so lucky!! So now I have had the surprise party I have wanted my whole life.... so maybe I can celebrate 50 at WDW! Just thought you'd wanna know..................Pamela
