Last week we tried the Mint Julep bar Mickey beignets and the bites at the Jazz Kitchen Express....and the winner for us (hands down) were the Mickey Beignets!

I think that timing was everything...the Mint Julep beignets were piping hot when we got them, and I'm guessing the ones from the Jazz Kitchen Express sat for a while. They were hard and chewy, and I returned them.

What has your experience been?

As WDW veterans, we had a lot of fun trying out those special treats, experiences, rides and shows that make these two parks so special. Leaving a powdered sugar trail through the park was one of these : )

The beignets from Cafe Orleans hands down!

Like you, I find the beignets from Jazz Kitchen Express to be hard and doughy. While the beignets from Mint Julep bar are better than Jazz Kitchen Express, I think that Cafe Orlean's beignets are the lightest and fluffiest -- probably because they are made to order and come out fresh. Also, in the fall and during the holidays, Cafe Orleans offers them in pumpkin and gingerbread seasonal flavors.

I've tried the beignets at four locations in DLR: the Mint Julep Bar, Cafe Orleans, Jazz Kitchen Express, and Jazz Kitchen. In truth, I like the ones at the Mint Julep Bar/Cafe Orleans the best (they tasted the same to me - piping hot, airy, yummy), but I think that has more to do with the Mickey shape than anything. The beignets at Jazz Kitchen Express and Jazz Kitchen were both very good too (hot, airy). I know the Mint Julep window has seasonal beignets flavors, but I've found those to be on the "meh" side (the gingerbread did not taste enough like gingerbread to me and I'm not a pumpkin fan).

I was also just proud of myself for finding the Mint Julep bar ; ) Cafe Orleans looked awesome...but less so with a 4yo with too much energy.

I don't even like the beignets in the park, LOL. I LOVE the Jazz Kitchen beignets, though!!

Sounds like a mess of opinions. We tried the Mickey-shaped at Mint Julep in November and I was less than impressed. They were warm, but they just didn't seem to taste like a real beignets. I'm wanting to try the Jazz Express this week, but now I'm wondering if I'll be let down. The best ones I've ever tried on Disney property were at the French Quarter resort at WDW. I'm hoping Jazz Express comes close to those.

I have only had the ones from MJB, the regular ones and the pumpkin ones and I love them both! Each time they were warm and fresh and soooo yummy :)

I've had them at Cafe Orleans and thought they were okay. We love them at Jazz Kitchen Express, but now I'm thinking it may because it's the first batch of the morning? We love to stop on the way to the Main Gates. Breakfast of champions!

I'll have to side with Jazz Kitchen! Although, like the pp said, it could be due to eating the morning batch when they're fresh. I've tried them after 12pm and they weren't as fresh. Cafe Orlean's were ok. I do enjoy the sauces, but it's been a while since I've had them there.

I was hoping for seasonal flavors in other times of years besides fall, but thank you. :)

I'm almost convinced that Mint Julep Bar and Cafe Orleans use the same recipe for their Mickey-shaped beignets -- they "taste" the same to me -- so you should be able to find the original and the seasonal flavors at both MJP and Cafe Orleans.

But in my experience, Cafe Orleans is far superior because they make a small batch to your order and the beignets always come out nice and hot. I also find that Cafe Orleans' beignets are lightly/moderately dusted with powdered sugar, with a side of vanilla and fruit dipping sauces that you don't get at MJP or Jazz Kitchen Express. The dipping sauces are divine! At MJP or Jazz Kitchen Express, you might catch a freshly made batch or one that's been sitting for a while, and both locations serve their beignets in a paper bag that's often covered with too much sugar.

Its been a few years but I did not enjoy the Mickey ones at the Mint julep bar but we liked the Jazz kitchen ones. We would them in the morning and they were fresh then.

If we get them quick service again (anywhere), I will ask for some freshly made ones...sounds like that is the key.
