If I knew the names of the beaches I would post a poll.

I was wondering which you all thought were the best.

St Martin

Orient , I heard is better then great bay, any others to mention?
Can I taxi to orient with my family of 5 easily?

St Thomas, megans bay, or trunk bay at st. johns. Can I taxi to st thomas beaches with ease.

Can I take the scenic tram and still have time to to to the beach?

My family has 2 teens , and 8 y/0 , dh and myself.

My Favorite beach on St. Maarten is Dawn Beach. I also like Little Bay Beach, to the west of Great Bay.

On St. Thomas, I like Coki and Sapphire. On St. John, I like Cinnamon Bay, a bit more secluded and less crowded than Trunk Bay, but just as nice, IMHO.

It's easy to take a cab to beaches on both St. Thomas and St. Maarten. I bit more tricky going to St. John, because you have to go cab, ferry, cab, but still doable.

I would say you could do the tram and the beach on the same day if you stay on St. Thomas. You'd want to get an early start, though.

In my opinion, Orient is way overrated on St. Maarten/St. Martin I prefer Mullet Bay Beach, Friars Bay Beach and Dawn Beach. Orient is great if you want to do some serious people watching!

Clarabella, I was interested in your opinion of the beaches in St Martin. Can you be more specific about what you like at Dawn and Mullet ? Thanks:wave:

Dawn sits on a vacant hotel, so nothing fancy, but has a few nice bbq's set up, the surf can be rough, and the snorkeling is decent but not great, and you must be a strong swimmer.

Mullet, my all time favorite, also sits on a vacant hotel. Has 2 bbq's, bathhouse (nothing fancy but it works), you can rent chairs and umbrellas. The surf can be wavy, but also like glass. I have spent 2 weeks every April there since 1983! Leaving for it on Saturday so I will have great shots after 4/30!! Its quiet but fun, but without all the "people watching" like Orient, no nudity some topless, the medical school students usually have a vollyball net up, or are playing soccer on the beach. Here is a link to show you what the resort and beach look like, the beach is basically the same, just not all the ameneties it had prior to the storm in 1995.Mullet Bay Photos

the second picture of the beach, if you swim out around the point, you can see some pretty neat fish, but its all dead coral, if your adventurous, put on swim shoes, walk the point, and dive in the hole, swim around or pull yourself up. When I was a youngster!! we had a blast doing that!

The most beautiful beach we saw was Trunk Bay, St. John. See photo below.

A gorgeous beach where we had the most fun, though, was in St Maarten where the Golden Eagle Catamaran took us. Does anyone know the name of that beach or is it just called Half Island? Thanks
