Best beaches on the Western??

Well, my next cruise will be here before I know it. Normally, I am researching and haven't even started this time. We are going on the Western in October and would love some ideas. What are some good beaches on the western other than at Key West? Any have to do's on the Western? I need help, please! Seems like I have become the entertainment director for my some of my DisFriends and we are sailing with them again in October. Thanks!

I have no idea about other beaches, BUT I do know Key West simply because I was born and raised there - the only beach I recommend there is Fort Taylor - the beach is taken care of extra well and it is on the Gulf side - I am sure someone will post something for you as a recommendation that will help.

That is a definate must do! I have never seen anything like it. Infact when we did a stingray encounter on the eastern it seemed silly compared to experiencing them in the "wild" it was the neatest thing ever!

Definiitely go to 7 Mile Beach in Grand Cayman - ask the taxi driver to drop you off at the Holiday Inn Beach. It is a wonderful clean beach, free, bathroom and food facilities. It's about a 15 minute taxi ride, very easy to get to and from. In Cozumel we took a taxi to Mr. Sanchos, again, very easy to get to and from, free, very clean, food and bathroom facilities available. They have a wonderful water trampoline for $8 per hour for the kids.

Are you allowed to use the hotel facilities? When we stayed in Cayman Islands during our honeymoon, I believe the Holiday Inn was one hotel over; however, I do not remember any food or bathrooms on the beach--just at the hotel.

yes - right on the beach are bathroom facilities, a bar and a place to order light food. When you are ready to leave, there are plenty of cabs lined up to take you back to the boat. I think the cab ran $4 pp each way.

We were just there again in January and I can attest to how great Mr Sanchos is. But, it's $8 per day, not per hour for the water trampoline. My kids got the wristbands and were able to stay on all day long.

That's because the Holiday Inn has moved. The Ritz purchased the property from the Holiday Inn and knocked it down. The Holiday Inn has since rebuilt down the street. The hotel itself isn't located on the beach, it is across the street. However, their beach facilities are right there. You can rent the chairs. Without renting the chairs you can go down alittle bit and hang and still use their bathroom facilities and restaurant.
One hint on the taxi ride back. All the taxis that are sitting in front of the will wait until they're full to take you back to the port. We sat in our cab for the longest time, while we watched people walk across the street to the taxi stop that was directly in front of the hotel and get into a cab and leave immediately.
