Best Beach to visit from Orlando

Thinking of taking a one day trip from Orlando to visit one of the coasts. I am wondering if the Cocoa Beach area is nice, and are there areas to park and change clothes etc. If not anyone else have a recommendation

To answer your question about Cocoa Beach, yes it is nice and quite close to Orlando. Lori Wilson Park http://www.beachhunter.net/cocoa-beach/lori-wilson-park.htm is a good place to visit and they have parking, public restrooms, picnic shelters and changing facilities.

Goodness I am glad I stumbled on this post! I have a 4 and a 2 1/2 year old that are dying to see Mickey again as well as a beach (Beach Club didn't count according to them).

How far is the beach from WDW (Atlantic side...no gulf beaches please)? We were thinking just a day trip to take a break from the park-palooza.

Any reccomendations would be welcome both on the beach sites and planning this short excursion!!

How far? Via SR 528 (AKA "The Beachline") about 1½ hours.

Recommendations "planning this short excursion?" Not sure what you mean. There is not much planning involved. Fill the car's gas tank, take beach gear and snacks, and get an online (or AAA) map. Take SR 528 to I-95, exit at SR 520 and go east to the ocean (highway A1A). You will be at Cocoa Beach.

We spent a day at Cooca Beach last August. The drive was quick & easy & we had a great time. We did hit a HUGE rainstrom on the way back & many cars needed to pull over (us included). It was fun to see the cruise ships & we took a detour & went to Kennedy Space Center. It was a great day

Hit Cocoa Beach also...love it..as was said..close and nice beach. We didnt have a rain storm though (luckily) I would like to go to gulf coast this time but just concerned on time frame.,...I think that its longer to get to the west coast right?

We will be heading back to georgia from orlando, we are planning on staying at the beach a couple days before going home. traveling with two small kids so we kinda wanted to get at least to st augustine.

I'm not sure if this is a question or a comment. Nevertheless, a very good beach near St. Augustine is Crescent Beach, mid-way between Palm Coast and St. Augustine Beach.
