Best beach for boggyboarding near DL

Heading down to DLR in just under a week. We have scheduled in a beach day and ODS (13) and DH want to go boggyboarding. Which beach would you recommend? Is there a place to rent them? Please keep in mind that we also have a one year old who will be playing on the beach with me. TIA

Huntington Beach...straight shot south on Beach Blvd.You can rent boogie boards, bikes, etc.

My 13 ye old boys want to try this too! We had plans to do this at Huntington Beach as well but found out that there is a Van's surf competition happening there for 10 days. You may want to check out that and see if it interferes. Not sure if it will, I am sure Huntington is a big enough place but just a heads up.

Thanks for the heads up. The competition runs from July 20-28. We planned to be at the beach on July 18th so will just miss it.

Definitely Newport! I've been boogie boarding (or rafting in those early years!) there since childhood and now our boys LOVE it - they are currently ages 6, 13 and 14 and now have their own boards. The 15th Street Surf shop rents boards and it's just a few steps from there to the sand - literally, steps from the beach with no streets to cross.
