Inspired by the best ribs in the parks I was thinking about the best BBQ throughout the US. My vote goes for Dreamland in Tuscaloosa Alabama. As they say Ain't nothing like em anywhere. The sauce is a rich red sauce that will clean out your sinuses. I would give anything for a slab of them now. They have opened stores in Birmingham, Mobile, Atlanta and somewhere else but they just aren't the same, not as much grease buildup on the grill.
Where is your favorite?

Hands down the best BBQ award goes to......RO's in Gastonia, NC. Once you have tried it you're hooked!

Gates - in Kansas City!

One of the greatest things about BBQ is that it's different everywhere you go. Each geographic area has a different take on it.

bd-celebration I will have to agree that the Rendezvous does have the best dry ribs. I told DH tonight that we needed some of the dry spices from there for our chicken.

Coopers BBQ in Llano, Texas is a little piece of barbecue heaven!

My father's grill!!!

I have eaten at Dreamland in Tuscaloosa and Mobile. It's good, but overhyped IMO.

I would love to be able to sample all the regional faves such as Memphis, Chicago, the dueling sides of NC, Kansas, etc.

But it's got to be pork and keep the sauce thick and tangy. None of that clear vinegary stuff for me....

Well, here in Southern Cal, the sauce is thick and sweet! Ribs are baby backs and dripping in sauce. I have been to NC and had what they call "BBQ" and believe me, there is nothing like it here at home. We also had Brunswick Stew and it was unique to us here in So Cal. The south has wonderful food, so comforting! BBQ here is "once in awhile" where in NC it seems to be a "staple". Just my opinion;) But I love it either way!

Shorty's in Kendall and Shiver's in Homestead, FL

My Grandma's. It's the NC variety and it beats any other BBQ hands down. And her slaw. *licking lips* Boy, some of that sure would be good...

;) I tried eating there recently,on a thursday at 1 pm. The outside line to the pits was UNBELIEVABLE!!!!

I like Goode's Bar B Q in Houston.Best brisket ever.

Texas barbecue all the way for this Texan. I like my sauce spicy and hot too. I must try this place in Llano.

Dinosaur BBQ in Syracuse NY, that stuff is so good......

Believe it or not, the best ribs that I've ever had were at Damon's. They are consistently excellent.

Another vote for the Dinosaur BBQ (there's one in Rochester, too). The food is superb, and the décor is great!

Hey, I'm a yankee, what do I know?

Denise < --- thoroughly enjoyed all FOUR versions offered at Stickyfingers in Charleston, SC last year... ;)

Not a Dreamland fan personally. Agree with the poster that said it is overhyped. My vote goes to the GOLDEN RULE in Trussville AL. Sauce has a kick :jester:

Herbert's in Franklin, TN. Went to school in Tuscaloosa and I like Dreamland. Found Herbert's around 1989 while living in Nashville. Been a lot of places since and eaten a lot of BBQ but still think that Herbert's is the best.

Hey, I've gone to RO's in Gastonia! My DH's cousin used to be a carhop there.
How about Bridges' Bar-B-Que in Shelby, NC?? Yum Yum!!
