Best Apps for Disneyland

I just got MouseWaits and it looks awesome. It is a free app for iPhone 4. I will be trying out the wait times aspect of it on our trip next week but this app has alot of other cool stuff on it!

I prefer Disneylands own mobile website, m.disneyland.go.com . Shows wait times, park hours, show times, restaurants, meet and greet times and locations etc. Works great on my phone while in the parks.

I have Mousewait as well, on my Droid. :) I play with it sometimes just to torture myself. LOL

I too have Mousewait on my iPhone. I find it to be helpful for showtimes, tips, park hours, and places to eat. The wait times that are listed for ride lines are helpful but definitely not 100% accurate, but that's understandable considering the flow of people in the park. Overall I enjoy the app and always reference it when planning a visit or at the park.

I go to Disneyland and California Adventure a lot with my kids and use the GotPlanS DL on my iPhone 4. I believe they have a version for Disney World, as well.

Upon opening GotPlanS DL, users are greeted with a daily summary of hours for both parks, show times and projected crowds (today, for example, was described as "somewhat heavy"). The summary will also tell you which attractions are closed that day, and the weather forecast.

Upon closing the summary pop-up screen, users encounter the GotPlanS DL home page which features easy-to-navigate, iPhone-like icons that can be customized by rearranging the order and displayed in either a list or grid format.

Wait Times & FP
This icon takes users to a screen where they select California Adventure or Disneyland. From there, a list of wait times and when they were last updated appears. At the bottom of the screen are more buttons where you can report wait times and use the handy line timer.

Line Timer
This is something none of the other apps I used offer. Select the ride from the list then tap the "start" button. It will continue to work even if you close the app. Once you're up next in line, you tap "stop" then "submit" to report the wait time for other users.

Attractions
This icon takes you to a list of attractions sorted into categories such as by name, by land, by type, by rating and those with FastPasses available. Click on a specific attraction to see it on the map, rate it, see other users ratings, post comments, etc.

Maps
There are maps for Disneyland Park, California Adventure AND Downtown Disney. GPS enhances the maps with features like "Follow Me" and "Near Me."

Hours and Events
Separated by park and with an "add to my plan" button. Shows and events that have already taken place automatically drop off the list.

My Plan
Allows users to sort everything they want to see and do during their visit. Once checked off, the "to-dos" move to the bottom of the list. Again, shows and events that have already taken place automatically drop off the list.

Dining
Like the list of attractions, this is sorted into different categories: By land, by name, by value rating, by food quality rating (ratings come from other GotPlanS DL users), by price, etc. Click on the tab for a specific restaurant and users will see an overview and description as well as options such as Menu, Add to My Plan, Map It, Call, User Comments and Rate It.

Shopping
Works same as the Dining feature.

Park Chat
This is GotPlanS DL's community forum. It's formatted much like iPhone text messages.

iParked
A great feature where GotPlanS DL users can record which lot, row and section they parked in.

New and Polls
Pretty self-explanatory

Rate It
GotPlanS users can rate attractions, dining and shopping experiences. Attractions are rated by the appropriateness for adults, for teen/tweens, for children and by fun to wait time ratio. Dining is rated by value, food quality, service and decor. Users rate shopping by value, quality, selection and service. Additional comments can be added to ratings as well.

My Stats
This shows users how many points they've earned (by submitting wait times, ratings and comments) and where they rank. Rewards include items such as t-shirts, gift certificates and rain ponchos (great for the water rides).

My Locker
This allows users not only to record their locker number, but the lock combination as well. I'm not sure lock combinations are used inside the parks however. I'm pretty sure they issue keys.

My Gift List
An area where GotPlans users can create a list of friends and family they want to buy souvenirs for.

Passholders
This feature allows Disneyland Annual Passholders to check the blockout calendars.

Visit Countdown
Users can enter the date of their next visit and the "Next Trip Alert" send a pop-up message once each day (when opening the app) counting down the number of days left.... great for parents with excited kids. The pop-up option can be turned off.

And finally there are buttons for checking the weather and to take you directly to your Facebook and Twitter pages.

Wait times and hours for park opening/closing and show times were accurate the day we used it.

I give GotPlanS DL a five star rating! I've used others, including Mousewait. Personally, I feel Mousewait is highly over-rated. The interface in GotPlanS DL is much easier to use. I can find things much faster than I can in Mousewait. And GotPlanS DL has a line timer so users can submit actual wait times, not just what's posted at the entrance of the attraction. And GotPlanS DL uses GPS to verify users submitting wait times are actually in the park. Mousewait does not, leaving the potential for its users to post bogus wait times just to earn points and boost their rank.
