HI! Typically we are visiting with the Disney Dining Plan, but now we have AP's and are getting TIW so we really haven't tried many appetizers...what do you suggest? Can be from anywhere on the property, parks and resorts! TIA!

Here is a list of some of my current fave appetizers.
(Menu's change often - seasonally)

In MK at Skipper Canteen - the S.E.A. SHU MAI
Epcot:
Restaurant Marrakesh - the Combination Appetizer for Two
Le Cellier - The Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup

Hollywood Studios: 50's Primetime - Beer battered Onion Rings

Animal Kingdom - Yak n Yeti - The steamed pot stickers or the Dim Sum for Two.
Wilderness Lodge - Artist Point - the Smoked Mushroom bisque
At Hollywood Studios - Hollywood Brown Derby - The appetizer portion Cobb Salad
At Yacht Club resort Captain's Grill - The Wedged Romaine salad

Disney Springs:
Homecomin' - The Church lady Deviled eggs
Morimoto Asia - The Shumai or Spare ribs
Raglan Road - Scallop Forest
The Boathouse - The Boathouse Lobster Cocktail or the Maine Lobster bisque
Frontera Cocina - Bacon Guacamole

Can't wait to see everyone's answers --- I love apps (and making a meal out of apps).

Some of my favorites:
  • EPCOT - Spice Road Table - Rice Stuffed Grape Leaves
  • EPCOT - La Cava de Tequila - Chips and Queso
  • DHS - 50's Prime Time Cafe - Wedge Salad
  • GF - Mizners - Arancini and Pork Belly (these are both apps on the Citricos menu)
  • Poly - Kona - Sticky Wings
  • Contemporary - The Wave - Bacon and Eggs
  • Swolphin - BlueZoo - Teppan Seared Scallops
  • Swolphin - Cabana Bar - Lettuce Wraps
  • Boardwalk - Flying Fish - Pork Belly
  • Boardwalk - Big River Grille - Beer Cheese Soup
  • Yacht Club - Crew's Cup Lounge - Wedged Salad (same as the one mentioned above served at Captain's Grill)
  • AKL - Jiko - Taste of Africa
  • Disney Springs - Boathouse - Crab and Avocado
And the antipasti selections at Tutto Gusto (EPCOT) and pretty much anything at Nomads Lounge (AK) and Trader Sam's Tiki Terrace (Poly) - I'm not sure those count though since those restaurants don't have the traditional starter, entree, dessert set up.

I love appetizers, too, but haven't ordered them very often since we are often on the dining plan.

The one that I absolutely must have is the bread service at Sanaa. I think I have ordered it every trip. It is that good.

Also really enjoyed the Asian steak flatbread at California Grill.

Pan fried dumplings at Trader Sam's were really good.

The potato leek soup at BOG is actually something my picky ten year old loves.

California Grill has this ravioli appetizer that I think is fantastic!

THE COBB SALAD oh my goodness its wonderful! The appetizer is more than enough for a meal and its so delicious, I wish somewhere served one like that at home. I don't even like salad.
I am so happy to hear you say the dim sum is good! My boyfriend and I are going to the yak and yeti for the first time this summer and are sure we are going to try the dim sum! Is there anything else there you would recommend?

Love the sushi at California Grill. We have often gone up there, without a reservation, and enjoyed sushi and a cocktail in the lounge area.

Definately the Dim Sum for 2. The Lettuce cups appetizer are good too, but my fave is the Dim Sum.
As far as entree The Crispy Honey Chicken. For Dessert the Fried Wontons, but I ask for the vanilla sauce on the side.

Goat Cheese Salad at Chefs de France with a bowl of soup-yummo

I LOVE dim sum. If I were dining solo --- would dim sum for 2 app be enough for a meal? (Yes, I WOULD feel mildly ridiculous ordering it, but that wouldn't stop me.)

Yes you could make it a meal.
Most of my Disney trips I go solo. Occasionally DS 21 yo goes with me but most of my trips i am a solo diner.
When I go to Morimoto at Disney springs I usually order several small apps and make it a meal.
They have awesome Dim Sum there too...even better

The best appetizer I have ever had was a shrimp dish at ilmulinio I am going there in November just for the app. They should have it as a entree over linguine omg Loved that so much

We love Homecoming and Nomad Lounge. Jock Lindsey's and Spice Road Table are really good too.

We found the dim sum appetizer at Y&Y to be skimpy for a group. If there are only two people in your group, it may be enough, but for any more people, I wouldn't recommend it.

OTOH, we loved the Dragon Roll sushi at Y&Y. I was with people who never get sushi, and they were mad for it.

The men in my family are crazy over the wings you get at Ohana. I have read that they are the same at Kona Cafe, and I'm pretty sure that you can order them by themselves in the Tambu Lounge.

At Splitsville - the edamame, loaded fries, and nachos are amazing.

We usually get a few sushi rolls and the edamame for me and DH, and the kids get one of the others, and an order of the parm. chicken tenders to share. MORE than enough. So good, too.

The meals at WDW are FAR too huge for me, so I pretty much exclusively eat apps unless I see something I have to have and I'm with someone with a giant appetite who can help me out:)

FF, Bluezoo and SRT all have fantastic apps, also CG, MP, San Angel Inn. You never have to have at WDW, for sure. There are tons of delicious apps almost everywhere.
