I am planning my first trip to Disney World and I am choosing the value hotels so that I can spend the extra money on better food and souveniers instead. I can't decide which All Star resort to choose!!!!! I think I like All Star Movies and All Star Music. I read that the All Star Music rooms are older (and shabbier?) but has better pools and less kids? Please help!

I stayed in AS Sports 2 yrs ago and it was great. The room was nice and the foodcourt is right there anytime you want to munch on something.

The best part was a big football field made with soft turf. My 2 yr old daughter and I spent hours there kicking the ball around and it gave her a chance to just run around and burn some energy before and after park hours.

The pool was nothing special but they do have one.

For $99 a night, you can't go wrong.

I haven't stayed at all of AS resorts, just the Music but the rooms were in no way shabby. They were fine and as I've posted before, I would not hesitate to stay at the All Stars again if I wanted to save money (it was our first on-property stay just as you are doing & we had a ball). We're staying at the GF this year, but sometimes in a quiet moment I think "maybe we should stay at the AS & go crazy on other things instead...how much are most of us in our rooms anyway when you really think about it".

You'll have a great time wherever you stay...it's Disney:) .

We love it there! Will have stayed at all 4 moderates on may 25 and so far are favorite is all star movies! But the caribbean beach might be better! We also have resies 4 9 days in sept!

I have stayed at all of the all stars ( music , movies , sports ) and i personally like Sports becasue i am a sports fanatic. The rooms however are basically all the same.

The rooms, services, and amenities are practically identical at each All-Star Resort. The only real differences are in the "decoration"; for example, the wallpaper, building fixtures, pools, and the oversize "icons" are themed to the particular resort. Building arrangement also varies (the farthest rooms are in Country Fair at Music). Each has one shop and a food court; again, the only real differences are the styling and name on the door.

I'd suggest you make a selection based on which "theme" most appeals to your personal taste. I've yet to see a shabby room at any of these resorts. Movies often fills up before Sports and Music, which could make the decision for you. I have also heard about Music having fewer children, but my experience there is in the summer, and I didn't notice this (though even our poolside room was quiet).

I've stayed at ASMusic, but toured all 3. Maybe Music has fewer little children, but I felt like I was in the middle of a college dorm. Teenagers and College-aged kids running around, and some were using very un-Disney-like language (No, I'm not a total prude-I have 2 college-aged sons and I teach high school). And it was at all hours of the day and night. One evening I walked over to ASMovies aroun 9:30 pm and it was much quieter. If I was to go again, I'd definitely only stay at ASMovies (if I couldn't get POR).

I think it depends on what your taste are.

DS & I are staying for 2 nights in ASSP because he is a sport nut. DD would rather stay at ASMv.

We have stayed at all 3, but personally prefer "MUSIC". We liked sports, but had a bad expereince at movie's. I think it just depends on how you are treated when you are at a resort as to which resort is your favorite. You could ask this question over and over and get a different answer each time.

Just returned from WDW - stayed at both Music and Movies. We have stayed twice at Sports.

Here are my preferences:

1. Movies - love the icons! My favorite of all, everything was perfect! The "Mighty Ducks" pool was very quiet - the main pool (my favorite) was crowded & loud.

2. Sports - always clean and reasonably quiet - but I just love those character icons at Movies! ;)

3. Music - for some reason, it didn't seem as "bright & shiny" and seemed to have an older "teen" crowd that chose to sprawl out on the walkways (there was some sort of music and cheerleading competitions going on during the week that brought in extra teens at all the resorts).

All 3 resorts are almost exactly the same in layout, style, amenities, etc. I would stay at any (if I couldn't get my first choice) -- we are usually only there long enough to sleep anyway!

My favorite is Movies!!! I just love the theming. DH and I always request the Toy Story section. We also like Music but it would be our second choice. We have never stayed at Sports.

Have stayed at both Movies and Music. At Music, ended up in Country fair, so walk to food court was a LITTLE long (nothing like the walk in the moderates, though) ASMo is layed out more compact. Don't need to worry about building location as much.

did you guy's book your own room or use a TA? I don't know which to do?? I have seen some discount codes for different resorts, etc ~ but we are looking to stay at ASM in '03 I don't think there are any discount's out for that right now. I got a quote from DU that is sort of a guess rate (since rates aren't out yet) of $110.88. I am wondering if I could do better just checking this board for discounts as our date gets closer. What do you think???

thanks,
Jon

I chose Music because I thought it looked better (I had my choice of all 3) and I heard that it was quieter. We stayed there in March, 2001. The room was in excellent shape. No problems at all, and housekeeping was wonderful as well (it was actually much better than at the Polynesian Concierge!). We were in the Broadway Hotel #7, on the second floor. I'd definetly stay at the All-Star Music again!

did you use a TA or book yourself? also, what kind of rate did you get in March? we are looking at the first week in March of next year...

thanks,

Jon

I booked it myself. We paid $116 per night (including taxes, it was $104 before the taxes, rack rate) and we paid $17 per night for a rollaway bed (they are available thru housekeeping if two people don't want to share a bed). I was not able to get any discounts for our stay there March 14-19, 2001.

Have fun!

ContempoSMT and I are staying in the Sports in June/July.. Can't wait! 89 days left...
