Just thinking about Vero Beach for our 10 anniv. in 2009. What airport do you fly into? It doesn't look like there's anything real close. If we fly into Orlando, how far of a drive is it to Vero Beach?

How hard is it to get Vero for mid-May at the 7 mo window? (I realize that in 3 years this probably will change.) Just curious!

Thanks!

The closest airport is West Palm Beach (about 60-65 miles), Orlando (+/- 100 miles), and Ft. Lauderdale (+/- 110-120 miles). All of those airports are easy in - easy out, and right next to major expressways.

Miami is about 150, but I wouldn't recommend MIA unless you were getting a great fare, because of the airport itself, exit from the airport, and then big-city traffic. I find MIA easy and convenient, but I fly in and out of there all the time, and I'm not going to Vero.

WPB would be my choice, all things being equal, with MCO (Orlando) second.

you might want to check to see if you can fly into melbourne international - melbourne is only about 35 miles from vero beach.

hope this helps

I have used both Orlando and Melbourne. Melbourne is a nice small airport about 45 minutes away from the resort. Some of the airlines pulled out of there though. I can't remember which ones, but I fly Delta, so I know they are still there. I like the small airports - very quick to get in and out of.

We usually fly into Orlando on a direct flight with Southwest because we get decent flights and get there in 2½ hours. I hate spending all day traveling.

West Palm Beach may be closer in miles to Vero but depending on where you are flying in from, may cost more and you will most likely have to change planes. I know for us, it's always been more $$ and we can't get direct flights from Providence.

If you fly Delta you can fly into Melbourne International which is about 45 minutes north of Vero Beach. There are a few other airlines that fly into Melbourne too. It is worth checking into to. http://www.mlbair.com/

It usually takes us between 1½ to 2 hours to get to our home from Orlando airport. It all depends traffic on 528 and 95. We're about 10 miles south of the Disney Resort.

We stayed at Vero Disney twice. My sister moved to Vero Beach a few years ago. We visited her a few times and liked it so much we also bought a home there. May is a great time to go. The weather is wonderful, and you have a great chance to see the turtles laying their eggs.

Looks like we were all posting about Melborne Airpiort at the same time.
Great minds!!! :goodvibes

We always use MCO...

It's bigger and has more flights going into it...
It's cheaper when flying Northwest...
It has more rental car agencies to use...
