We are going to Paris then onto Germany with a quick stop on DLP.

What is your favourite airlines for international flights and why?

Virgin Atlantic is first choice and British airways second. Outstanding customer service tons of room. Flown US carriers and they could take a lessons from them. Ticket agents, flight crew all outstanding. If Virgin Atlantic has not sold out the upper class seats they will offer them very cheap at the counter at check in. Over Christmas I got upgrade from Chicago to London for $130.00 on way. Took it so I could sleep in comfort on the way over.

Knowing where you live would help.
That said, economy class on most airlines is pretty similar.
I agree the European airlines do a better job overall, IMO.
I've flown KLM via their Amsterdam hub quite often and really like them.
Look for airlines with newer equipment on the routing because they'll have seat back entertainment systems whereas some of the older planes either don't have it or have dated systems.

Five years ago we flew Continental from Newark to CDG-Disneyland Paris. We were in the very last row of a single aisle plane. It was OK..
This year we are going to try Scandanavian SAS airlines from EWR to CPH Copenhagen for our Baltics Cruise. SAS flys wide bodies, and with Optiontown.com you can purchase day of travel upgrades from Economy to Economy Plus...
